Re: Bench Racing for a new Wheeler

I wouldnt even bother with a JK. The JL is improved at so many levels, there is no comparison. Better axles, better trans/programming, better seats, less weight, more room, better engine offerings, better shock location, much beefier brackets on the axles, stronger steering gearbox, stronger steerin...

Gaia GPS forest service map shows 1302 going completely through that red circle on your map and extending all the way to Jumpoff 2 Lookout. Directly to the right of your red arrow, there is a small trail that heads North straight up to the same lookout.

Re: RV batteries

Most RV's use Group 24 (size) batteries. The length and width of a Group 24 is the same as a 6-volt, but the 6-volt is taller by about an inch or so. A Group 27 battery is longer on the long side, but the same height as a Group 24. A pair 6-volts has almost identical total Amp Hour capacity as a pai...

It really isnt difficult. Regardless of what people say on the internet, you dont need 100% nitrogen to charge them. Ambient air is over 75% nitrogen naturally. I was an aircraft hydraulic systems specialist in the Air Force and we used both Nitrogen and compressed air to service the accumulators, s...

Re: Recreational towing recommendations

I do not believe that WA law requires a braking system on towed vehicles, and no, they are not considered "trailers". Many other States DO require a towed vehicle braking system. Canada does. I heard they check at the border and wont let you through without it. Those car dollies are the mo...

+1 for 5-Star. I put headers and a 5-Star tune on my '00 Ford V-10 motorhome, and it works great! They really know Ford's.

Re: Pole barn or shop kit recommendations

Perhaps you can put a door in the gable end similar to my shop so that you can fit a long rig. If you use scissor trusses you may be able to put a 14' door on the end show that you can fit a camper in there. Down the road, I think you will be most pleased with a stick built shop instead of a pole b...

"The rest of my story" After we waited for a while for OldGreen and Boyscout to return, I decided to go check on them. A few miles back on the trail, I found OG stuck against a log in some deep snow, in the process of pulling Madi up the hill. I tried to turn around by OG to help get him u...

Maybe brushes hanging up in the alternator, or worn out. Under mild load voltage will be fine, but under full load contacts fail. Take the alternator to SAS in Kennewick.

Re: 99 XJ Limited

I dig it!! I wouldn't do a darn thing to it except fix that spare tire contraption, and then add a bunch of fuel!! I totally agree. 35's will get you around better in snow, but that thing with 31's and lockers will get you through most all the trails here just fine. 35's will require a lot of work ...
