Re: Paint?

Huh, wouldn't have thought of that. I've had several things powder coated at Fab Tek in Yakima, but I believe they only do black. They do a very good job though, and the price is right. I can check with them and see if they'll try and match a factory paint code. My jeep is Silverstone Metallic, so t...

Paint?

Anyone got a good source for getting some parts painted? I've got a bunch of big pieces I want to have painted the factory color with a good clearcoat so rattlecan is more trouble than I want to deal with, especially in these temperatures. I've got aluminum corner armor, rockers, and an aluminum hoo...

Re: Metal Chunks in Diff Fluid.

Dunno about the chunks of stuff, but you could probably solve the milky fluid thing by driving it around on the road some after a wet wheeling trip. As long as the vent is in good shape.

Re: 01 TJ Refit

Heeyyyyy! Hey man! Maybe like a ARB pressure switch to turn off and on? Could probably do something like that. Thing is, I'm now pretty sure there isn't a clutch that can be turned on and off. I think it might have some sort of clutch, but it's probably a centrifugal thing just to make engine start...

Re: 01 TJ Refit

Like everyone else has said, great to hear from you again! I don't run a York, I use a stock Sanden. Internet loar says Yorks are better all around (they are) but even my little Sanden doesn't seem to put out any oil in the lines. Guess I will just have to see how it does. Hopefully its not an issu...

Re: 01 TJ Refit

So, my 12v compressor has died. Runs, but won't build pressure anymore. I've got a york compressor that I pulled out of my gladiator awhile back when fixing the a/c. The compressor works fine, it just slowly leaked around the input shaft seal behind the clutch. I've cleaned it up, and checked out th...

Re: 01 TJ Refit

Good to hear from you Dale, the Scumbys and I were reminiscing about you the other week. Did you get your house built? Nope. Got myself a miniature shop and haven't done anything other than landscaping. Just got a space cleared out for the well though. I may get that it and plant a bunch of trees b...

Hey man. Will be good to be back. All my free hobby time has revolved around RC planes. Getting back into the mountains will be nice.

Still rocking the bronco?

Re: 01 TJ Refit

Hey! Great to hear from you. Didn't even know about wrecking the Jeep. I hope you were not injured. I just sold my TJ. I may regret that decision. :) No real injuries, I was just a bit sore after absorbing all the impact with my arms. Was not happy to wreck though, and after it was broken, it just ...

01 TJ Refit

Hey everybody. Very long time no see. After letting my wrecked TJ sit for 5 years, I finally started getting it going again. Hopefully it'l be up for some wheeling again after a bit more work. As the airbags had both gone off, I needed to pull most of the dash loose to replace them. Steering wheel a...

No JB weld. I don't remember it being thin, though I put mine almost on top of the spine where it might have been thicker.

Ya, I ended up rebuilding it. Now I just have to get the transmission figured out. Engine runs and soundS great. Ive been sick so really havent felt like digging into it. If I'm remebering correctly you need to move that breather back down further. Looks like you have it right on top of the front p...

Since I'm changing the transmission, the original T-case shifter had to go, and it sucked anyway. Since no one makes anything for the Dana 20 that will fit well in my truck I'm stuck with making my own. Cable shifters will make for the cleanest install. Grabbed up some scrap 304L stainless from twin...

Was able to borrow a good dial indicator and get everything put together. It took 2 transfer cases to come out with a good one. Replaced all the seals and bearings, and a couple gears that were pretty ugly. PO probably shifted it terribly. The intermediate gears were all chipped up. http://i59.photo...

mattawa- I think pic one tells the story. the 06 wire harness I have doesn't match the wiring diagram either color wise. i'll have to recheck the color codes you have for an '05. interestingly my '98 diagram shows DG as #2/field driver as (-) not (+). do you have a diagram for a 98 showing that as ...

You can replace the blue gear that is on the output shaft when you do the sye, you just have to figure out the tooth count verses tire size and gear ratio. They make a aftermarket one to correct the speedo. I believe I went with advanced adapters when I did mine I think. Not with the short sye's, t...

Dilithium crystals are probably just about dead, and you have to drop the tank to replace them.

I have the Teraflex Extreme Short kit in my TJ. It was the best deal pricewise at the time. Hasn't given me any problems so far. I'm also using the Dakota Digital adapter Wrongway mentioned. Anyone have any recommendations for a halfway decent dial indicator? Are the Harbor freight options junk?

I ended up needing to replace more things than planned and need to reset bearing pre-load on the Dana 20 front output. It's been a nightmare so far.
