Re: Recovery Ropes

I've got a Bulldog rope and a Smitty Built Rope. Both work great and I've used them several times to pull out 3/4 ton trucks out of the sand and snow with my Land Cruiser. They are my go to before I break out the winch. I actually like the Smitty built a bit more as the rope is a little harder and t...

4cy diesel engine + 4L80E + NP241

Selling the drive train from my Scout project. Going in a different direction. https://kpr.craigslist.org/pts/d/diesel-swap-drive-train/6566149527.html Could be a really cool swap, I just don't have the desire to finish it anymore. Also have a Dana 44 front, some dana 44 high steer arms from ruff st...

Re: Seeking Input for Cheap Commuter Rig

I had an early 90's VW jetta for several years. Picked it up for under $1000. Got great gas mileage and was fun to drive. Easy to work on and parts were pretty cheap. Only really had one issue with it in that time which was the Hall Sender (basically distributor) failed. Under $150 and 20 minutes wo...

Costco sometimes carries the 100 lb tanks. Not sure if you want that big though.

Re: 15`s or 17`s

The trend in wheels in general is moving towards 17's. With larger brake systems and other components being added to the wheel area on new vehicles they just need the space. 15" tires will be around for a while but they are headed the way of 16.5's, your selection will get less and less, though...

Re: WTB: FSJ D44's

I may have something. Have a D44 front and matching D60 rear from a '74 J20. The front has all the steering and brakes but the shock mounts have been removed. I also started to set it up for spring over but the spring perches (new Ruffstuff) are just tacked on so would be simple enough to move them ...

Re: David Bradley Trailer Build

Rust repair on those flat panels shouldn't be too hard. Depending on how bad they are it may be easier to just cut complete new pieces and spot weld them in. Happy to give you some guidance when you get that far.

Re: FJ80 Slow Build

It's been a while but finally got the rear swing out on my bumper. Also built a front bumper from a kit I ordered from Relentless Fabrication. Mostly left it the way it came but added a few personal touches. Again full build on Ih8mud for any that care to see. http://www.justih.org/photopost/data/69...

Welcome!

Fellow Toy owner here. Don't worry about the jeep guys, they don't make fun of Toyota's cause they know they'll need someone to tow them home.

I have a tube bender, knotcher and welder. Never tried a cage before but I'm willing to try it with ya. I have built the bumpers for my land cruiser and spent several years making metal art projects to an artist in the town I grew up in so I am not a newb. Shoot me a PM and we can get together and t...

For those that don't know A&B was bought out by Central Washington Asphalt about a year ago. The new owners may not be as open to people using their land for off roading. They really expanded the area they are mining so they probably want to keep people away from that.

I think some (maybe all) of the County parks close for the winter. I haven't heard that Hover is closing though. I was out there weekend before last and no sign of anything being different. Keep in mind that the majority of the wheeling area at Hover is not County land. It is/was owned by KGH and th...

It's a 1997. Has 255,000 miles but other than some slight wear to the drivers leather it runs and drives like a new car.

I upgraded to this from a first gen 4runner. The 4runner was cool and lots of fun but like you said its nice to wheel in style.

FJ80 Slow Build

So finally starting in on my FJ80 to fill some time while I save up for the next steps on my IH Scout project. The FJ is pretty capable right out of the box as it came with front and rear lockers. So far I've put on 33's, added a 1" body lift (for reasons that will be shown later) and this week...
