Re: It happens to everyone, right?

Yeah, I'm thinking its an accumulation of many not so tiny amounts of play leading to my overall problem.

Its corrected enough for this weekends adventuring duties. Successfully flat towed to Silverwood, will use the LJ to Scout out a camp site for after the park stay

Re: It happens to everyone, right?

Last week I got the full on full lock to lock DEATH WOBBLE on the way to work! Had to turn around and grab the truck before making it to work with seconds to spare... I've gone through the whole front end and nothing is LOOSE, the control arms have soft (old) bushings but not shot, the track bar loo...

Re: Is there any interest in GMRS?

I think Juniper was our first GMRS "test run". While the radios worked, there weren't many rigs with functioning radios. (Tim was having some technical issues but didn't have his manual on board) The Ahtanum snow run was better, but still the percentage of rigs running GMRS was low. It too...

Re: Ahtanum day trippin'

That guy wasn't pushing too hard, but after eyeballing my tires said I might be able to make it around the trailer... We just dipped into the ditch for a second and drove around the camper. The snow was wet and heavy, but the Jeep was working. I had dropped to 4 lbs, and if I went to 2 lbs it might ...

Ahtanum day trippin'

Short notice call for a day trip nets low attendance... Turns out solo wheeling , while not the best idea, is pretty fun! :thu: With everyone else not being able to make it, it gave us the ability to really take our time. Make a stop in Yakima on the way up for breakfast, extra time to load stuff fr...

Re: TJ full door handle flip

Just dug up a pic of my YJ half doors, same thing. They open towards the front. Never had a problem with the half doors, the latch is super easy on them. The full door latches are heavy, I actually sprained my thumb opening them!

The half door latch might be a similar project.

Re: Is there any interest in GMRS?

do the permanently mounted mobile radios need a special antenna? Yes, a mobile radio has all the basic components that a CB radio would have. The radio itself, coax and GMRS specific antenna. The required antenna itself can be MUCH shorter, but because of the small size requirements fancier/high ga...

Re: Is there any interest in GMRS?

Hand held for spotter/winch duty was pretty awesome on the last trip, and Jennifer has used hand helds as "hand out" radios for folks without GMRS capability. They're not as nice as a permanently mounted mobile radio, but get the job done for short range.

Re: Is there any interest in GMRS?

There's a huge swing in prices, most of the higher priced models do everything that we would ever need and more, and some of the lower priced units can have some odd quarks.

I haven't settled on a specific unit to recommend yet. I'm trying to get a feel for the in's and out's of different units. Some of the units that have been on the trail with us are: -Midland MXT275 MXT400 -Radioddity DB20-G -Kenwood TK-8180 (business radio thats not exactly turn key) Soon to be in u...
