Re: 2005 LJ

So there I was... staring at a perfectly good set of 39's just sitting on the shop floor... Next thing you know: IMG_5364.JPG IMG_5365.JPG A quick test drive revealed massive fender contact at pretty much every point imaginable, to nobody's surprise I might add, but I just couldn't sleep knowing how...

TJ / LJ Lower Control Arm Bolt Hole Relocation

No rocket science here, but keeping flatter control arm angles is usually beneficial for a bunch of reasons. In a TJ/LJ, the control arms are so short that it doesn't take much lift at all to make things really funky... Luckily for us, the factory frame mounts have a ton of meat on them below the or...

Re: 2005 LJ

For anyone looking to add a little functionality to the cavernous TJ center console, czek this out: Tray_1.jpg It's a 3D printed tray that drops right in!! Genius!! I "installed" mine in last night as soon as I opened up the mailbox and found it waiting for me, so it was too dark to get an...

New Years Eve +/- Run 2023

For this year's event, our small group met up at the Maverick for an 0800 departure under foggy and gloomy skies, but we had high hopes for sunshine as we gained elevation. In the group were Dryside in the trusty white 6.0L powered JKU-R, Dan and Jenn in their grey 2021 JLU-R (accompanied by their d...

Nasty Creek (and Beyond) 23Dec2023

*** DISCLAIMER *** The report and photos below depict travelling a route that by all accounts is normally closed this time of year. However, a very fortuitous conversation with, uuuuh, the right people led to some insider knowledge that based upon current trail conditions, said closure was not being...

Re: NF-1302 to Cowiche Mill Road Exploration 17Dec2023

Just to provide some final clarity on the mythical gap trail issue, onX seems to currently provide what I've found to be the best view of the situation. I've added the arrow to approximate the location we got stopped on the nasty sidehill from the Ahtanum side back in September of 2020, with the red...

NF-1302 to Cowiche Mill Road Exploration 17Dec2023

The mission for today was to FINALLY put the puzzle pieces together between NF-1302 and the maze of trails off of Cowiche Mill road... Joining me for the expedition were Dryside and Rottwheeler, and we launched from the Maverik in West Richland sometime around 0800 in the dreary misty fog that has b...

WTB: 5x4.5 Wheels

Looking for a full set of 5x4.5 wheels... I don't have any tires yet so I'm open to 15, 16, or even 17" diameter but the one stipulation is they must be a black, or at least predominately black, in design. Similarly, I'm open to either steel or aluminum construction.

Flat Fender Soft Top

Looking to clear out some space in the shop, and it's pretty evident that the Bestop Tiger Top that I bought back in 2002 isn't going back on the flattie... It's been stored indoors it's entire life and is in perfectly serviceable shape. I'll say $100 for anyone interested. https://www.bestop.com/pr...

With most of the heavy lifting out of the way, it's time to address airing up the neighbor kids pool floaties :lol2 As much as I adore a good engine driven compressor, the ease of an electric outfit has really won over my laziness so an ARB twin was chosen for the task at hand. Re: 2005 LJ

What are you doing for a sway bar now? Long term, the plan will be to correct the geometry enough, primarily the roll center via correcting the trac bar angles, to where a sway bar won't be necessary for what little street driving this will ever see. Additionally, I'll eventually get around to outb...

Re: 2005 LJ

As mentioned before, one of the reasons behind installing the body lift was to allow room to stuff the drivetrain up a little higher and gain some much needed belly clearance. The "shovel", as the factory belly pan is often referred to, is among the worst factory design elements I've seen ...

To further the saga of turning the Mullet into a bonafied work truck, I installed the MOPAR brake control unit in the dash. Up to this point, I had been using a bluetooth brake control unit that is handy as a pocket on as shirt, but because it uses a large control box that mounts on the trailer tong...

Moab Trail Closures

In case people aren't paying attention, there is a pretty significant movement already underway to close a bunch of trails in the Moab area: https://jalopnik.com/bureau-of-land-management-closes-317-miles-moab-trails-1850963120 There is already an appeal underway by the State of Utah: https://www.sl...
