Spent the weekend helping a guy in the Log Home club finish up some stuff on his house. He was diagnosed with Machado-Joseph's after he started the build and hasn't been able to finish. Steve, here's an extreme example of why synthetic chinking is too expensive. I plan on having much tighter gaps, b...

Now that this thing has changed ownership once again what's more important? Fixing mechanical issues or getting rid of the square headlights? Brother needed a proper wheeling rig, and this fit the bill. Looks like there's a bit of a list to go through before this thing is mountain ready but it...

Taller gears and a later model 32 spline output SM465 complete with hydraulic clutch setup would rock the taco wagon like a boss... I just so happen to know a guy with one too! It's halfway tempting, but I'm too lazy to swap axles or re-gear, even though I have a bolt on set right here. The 5...

A couple of days ago I saw a nv3500 out of a tj on Craigslist. Not sure if it's still there or not but worth a look. Yeah, it's still up for sale. They want $750 bucks for it though. Found an AX15 in Spokane for 300, and one in Seattle w/ 231 for 550. Waiting to hear back from the owners. For a gen...

Being in a truck, wouldn't NV4500 be a stronger choice? Or the 3k for a gear vendor? Yes, that would be a good option. Problem is price. NV4500's seem to go for a lot of money, and then there's potential extra costs adapting it to the right NP205 and messing with PTO shafts and such. I have two gla...

Doesn't the Gladiator have a SBC in it? Yes it does. Probably should have mentioned that. Stupid adapters are going to cost more than the transmission itself. If there's a Chevy overdrive that will bolt to a Dana 20, or an NP205, I might be interested. Problem there is that I think that route is ev...

WANTED: 5 Speed Transmission
My Gladiator needs overdrive. I'd like something that can be adapted to a Dana 20 so that I can keep my PTO. I'd also prefer a manual because they're more fun.
That kind of leaves me with only Jeep transmissions as an option.
Anyone have an NV3550 or AX15 you don't need?

Haven't had a chance to swap the engine yet, apple harvest is too crazy. Got some bling for the wheels though. Which is almost as important. http://i59.photobucket.com/albums/g295/localfiend/J200%203-4%20Ton%20Gladiator/20140909_150624_zpshn5lfli1.jpg I just need to find a new set of bias ply ...

He has some good points but I've found a cell phone works just as good or better. Most places you can get a cell signal, not always but usually, and it getting better. Most people will end up with a Tech no-code license (last time I looked) and this will allow you up to use most bands upto 6m, whic...

Drove the truck over the scale at the local Wilbur Ellis today. Truck was 4,220 lbs with a full tank of gas, plus the spare 5 gal, and nothing else. This make's me think factory weight ratings for a thriftside were rather far off. The truck probably has an extra 350lbs (might be generous) with the f...

:::Drool::: I love the Gladiator and hope to build one someday. It's my favorite full-sized truck. If you're interested, I have a '71 Buick 455 sitting in the garage that could provide the torque you need to move that hunk of old iron. It'd come pretty cheap (or with a fair trade), since I got it o...
