Re: Tow Rig Lovin, Version (I've lost count)...
Would love a toyhauler about the size above, but where did you find a short one that A: fit the Jeep and B: had the load capacity? or was that not an issue?

Re: Off Road Trailer Axle Setup
Out of curiosity, if you have to run wheel spacer already, why not just change the bolt pattern with them too?

Really like this 3'x5'x20" trailer . He had a shop make it it but then changed as they found what worked for them.

How many days are you planning to take?
This is a trip that very much interests me, just a lot of miles.

Bill gave me my first trail ride in 1992. I'd been in the rd 100 dunes, mud behind Acme, and basically "wheeled" locally but never been up to the mountains. After becoming acquainted with the Desert Rats, I went on the Labor Day Rim Rock with them. Saturday morning, after breakfast and a l...

Re: YJ mods, an on going thread.
I've been fighting a weak rear brake system since getting the Jeep running. Front brakes work great but the backs, well could not get them to lock up which make it impossible to stop the rig in double low. One thought was I used the old worn out Isuzu flex & hard lines that came with the axle, o...

Naches trail 10-14-17
EWA's annual Wagon East. Over the top of Pyramid Pass then back via the Naches Trail. I did a day run, 27deg when I got to Lost Meadow with a trace of snow, about 3000ft. Over the top there was about 6"+ of snow at about 5000ft. The wet/snow was an awesome surprise and made the West side slick ...

Re: opinions on superchargers?
Not much help, but know of two supercharged 4.0s running around, don't know either of the brands. One is a Rattlesnake 4x4 member with a LJ, think the supercharger was installed last year. Last trip with him I couldn't keep up, this was headed up Middle fork in the Ahtanum. The other is a Desert Rat...

Re: Portable 12volt Compressor
I use the MV50 because the reviews were good and the APS was going out of business so it was on sale at a good price. Actually liked the HF pump better but only lasted a couple years before the piston broke. MV50 works well, could be a little faster. I also rarely run the tires over 20 so usually do...

Little trip, 43 miles 7.5hrs from unloading and back to the truck. One of the main roads was washed out meaning, we did some back tracking but awesome day in the mountains. Maintenance run for the 4w613 Divide trail
A few snow drifts to make thing interesting and enough "wetness" to keep the dust down and roots slick.

Re: Winch
Do have to add, the 8274 has a few different options. Early 8274s have the 2.6hp motor, still pulls hard but also a little slower at about 50fpm with no-load. The newer 8274-50, has a 4.6hp motor and will run about 80fpm no-load. A 6hp 9k winch motor can be added to any 8274, warn does not recommend...

Rugged Ridge 8500: On the Blazer. Been a good winch, pulled more bushes out with it than anything else but has always worked when needed and has a fairly fast (for a lay down winch) no-load speed. Warn 8274: This is on my trail rig, fast, reliable, and holds about 50' more rope than most lay downs, ...

IIRC the fenders and rockers are make out of sch40 pipe, might get 2" of lift when all the weight is pulled off.

Wanted - YJ 1/2 doors.
Need some trail door so looking for a set of 1/2 door, soft are probably closer to the price but will consider hard doors.
Would like frame and door latches with soft, shape of cover isn't overly important.

The bad news isn't so bad when you hook things up correctly. The motor is still the weaker original and will get an upgrade but will work for now. On goes 150' of Bigfoot rope: http://i1090.photobucket.com/albums/i378/rjewing99/Blue_YJ/17BC609C-7A2F-423C-8CA8-D9CED02E66C0_zpstoaox6um.jpg This winch ...

Re: Random Picture Thread
Ended up at a car show the weekend (The Living Room Church) and saw this. I'm definitely not the best fabricator but when the guy was all happy about this being able to do 70mph and go to MT, I really had to bite my tongue and move along. Closest I could tell: He scabbed part of a Ford truck frame o...

Well this is were I get to admit, I'm a dumb a$$. So after consulting with a motor expert, I was doing everything wrong and wasn't getting the power were it needed to go. So tonight, we (mouse in my pocket and I) hooked the battery up and used a real jumper wire to go around the controller plug. Yes...

Re: YJ mods, an on going thread.
Since this is the old school motor, ~2.5hp probably '70s vintage, I'd rather put money into a more power version, newer replacements are 4.5hp-6hp, with a faster line speed, ~50 vs 72fpm unloaded. I do have a friend at TC Battery that is pretty good with motors and might have him take a look, if he ...
