I like the gauge panel, that's a nice looking piece you made. Who is the source for the indicator lights? The auto x truck is losing it's dash this winter so I'll be needing some of those. :D

Yea I've had some good ones. I've been really, REALLY lucky to not break a whole lot more parts than I have. Who knew a Toyota drivetrain would hold up to bouncing on rocks with 42" tsl's?

Oops  http://i537.photobucket.com/albums/ff335/trashypants/Naches/TC%20anniversary/TnCNaches421.jpg Drove out under it's own power. Tweaked cage, bent rear main leaf and a tweaked front shock but otherwise wheelable. http://i537.photobucket.com/albums/ff335/trashypants/Naches/TC%20anniversary/y...

It's not a pet peve it's a safety issue. If you want to compress your back and possibly end up in a chair for the rest of your days go for it. But don't think for a second I won't tell you I told you so if you come back on here doing a PSA through a voice to text app from a wheel chair looking like ...

may acquire an engine that already has it. Less moving parts to fail.

In exchange for more electronic parts to fail. Brilliant!

Off the top of my head the base model (easiest to use since it has a shifter not a electronic solenoid) '94-'02 half ton truck should have the 231HD. Other than the standard input swap it should be a bolt in. The clocking may be different but a standard thin clocking ring fixes that.

There is a version of the 231 in s10's with 6 planetaries, that is what is in bobracing's crawl box. The best bang for the buck in those t cases is a 231hd out of a half ton pickup. Swap the input if needed and drop it in with it's 6 gear unit and wider chain. A whole lot cheaper than buying an afte...

6.turd, th400 and possibly a 205 but most likely a 208 t case. The rear will have a detroit no spin locker in it.

Bias or radial the 37's are smaller than the 36" version in all dimensions. The radial 36's are more square than the balloony bias versions.

36" iroks fit well on 8" wheels. If you want something a bit smaller and more square ironically 37" iroks fit the bill. As completely silly as it is, the 37's are closer to 35 x13's.

It is also quite likely that there is a smoked bushing or TRE or two somewhere. Chuck drives like a limo. . .no reason for a Prevost not to. Could be as simple as a loose track bar bolt. Or as simple as 80 lbs of extra steel boogered to each wheel and uncentered tires on the aforementioned wheels. ...

Fact. Ain't a dang thing revolutionary about them, other than the ring & pinion that makes a real dana 44 just a little bit better. 8)

60/40 street., paved streets? washboard dirt roads? I don't think the drive to moab will be affected by your shocks. is your ride on the trail going to be fast? and I agree, I can drive to the trail with a well maintained rig on cheap shocks. Don't knock good shocks till you try them. For years I w...

For a general use truck I'd make life simple and swap axles to something with taller gears. 3.73's would make the current transmission livable and cost a whoooooole lot less!

On the low end of "bad a$$" is something like a bilstein 5100 which are out of the box decent and better than any parts store shock you'll find. Above that would be a bilstein 7100 which are great shocks, rebuildable and custom valvable. After that the 9100 is their top dog but that's gett...

Pretty good start but it really needs front suspension and they actually put money into the 7.5" axle which while stronger than a dana 35 is still junk.

Some equal length radius arm suspension and a 9" would make that truck sick. :D

You have very few choices for a 37" on 15" rim these days. You are pretty much limited to Interco products, Maxxis Creepy Crawler and the Toyo MT. For that reason only I would say 37" on 17" rim. Fact. 17's if for nothing more than tire availability. I'm an interco die hard sinc...

I've been mulling the idea myself. When I was in the Marine Corp our stuck vee's had bead locks with an insert inside the rim. The rim itself was 2 piece which allows you to mount and dismount a tire on the trail, which allows you to not have to carry a spare rim just a tire. I know there is a afte...
