Cleaning Interior Plastic Panels / Dashboard

What kind of chemical concoctions have you had good success with in cleaning up years of neglect from textured interior plastic panels? The Jeep we bought for our daughter is 97% clean, but that last 3% just won't go away with the stuff I normally use (Simple Green). I tried a spot of the Purple Pow...

Re: JLUR. 2.0 Turbo vs 3.6

I should have picked your brain a little bit on auxiliary braking systems when I grabbed those seats the other day... I've got an old Brake Buddy setup, have no idea which generation off the top of my head, but I don't know if it'll work with the Gladiator? I believe it's just a 12v port connection ...

Skyline 23Jun2023

This was sort of an impromptu trip that spawned from needing to czek build status on the cabin near Tollgate before the framer pulled off site and to ensure things were ready for inspection next week: IMG_3181.JPG Czek. With that handled, we headed North on FS-64, otherwise known as Skyline with eve...

Re: JLUR. 2.0 Turbo vs 3.6

Congratulations! Let's get it dirty  If it doesn't have one, and you're interested, I've got an OEM steel lower skid plate that mounts below the front bumper. I believe most of the earlier model years equipped with plastic bumpers also came with plastic lower air dams, but later in the run ...

L.T. Murray Whiskey Dick Loop 11Jun2023

Unfortunate names aside, this was a fantastic little trip in an area that I have previously spent exactly zero time. We launched from the greater West Richland area sometime around 0900 and were back in the house shortly before 1800hrs, and that included plenty of stops to stretch our legs, soak in ...

Re: TJ bikini top ideas

I won't swear to it, but I think most of the TJ bikini tops do utilize the door surrounds to capture the sides above the cockpit area... We had a Bestop bikini top for our white LJ, and the "new" blue LJ has a frameless soft top that can be stripped down into a bikini top mode, and they bo...

Re: JLUR. 2.0 Turbo vs 3.6

I have mixed feelings on this, which I'll try to explain, but to make is short I would not own a 2.0L Turbo drivetrain... The two separate times I have driven them the turbo lag was absolutely horrendous and I just didn't enjoy the overall driving experience. I would wager that some tuning could twe...

Re: Sunset From Darland Mountain 6-04-2023

I'm still exhausted, but here is the video recap of the days events... You'll note the overall run duration on the screenshot toward the end of the video, this was definitely a marathon event. We encountered everything from talcum powder dust to several feet of snow, dealt with rattling suspension b...

BOBCAT... Seriously? THAT is what you take away from my build threads?! :lol2 :lol2 :lol2 But since you mentioned it... Re: Gladiator v2.0

It took a little more math than I'm used to because the side rails actually taper in 1-3/4" from front-to-back, but I was able to nail the layout of the crossbars and have them sit 1/2" above the toolbox: IMG_2752.JPG IMG_2758.JPG Then it was time to cut in the tube connectors on the rear ...

Re: Gladiator v2.0

So this next part may be a little controversial, but it was merely a means to an end... Sadly, the smooth steel side saddle toolbox I used on Gladiator v1.0 is no longer in production, and I just didn't want the visual asymmetry of checkered aluminum on one side with open air on the other. To make m...

Camped near the summit of Tollgate, OR near Langdon Lake at just over 5,000ft and I'm extremely happy to report that it towed out great even with stock 4.10 gearing  And even more amazing was the 13.35mpg hand calculated economy for the round trip :woot:

Re: Gladiator v2.0

The factory taillights on the Gladiators are functional, but among some of the dumbest looking things I've ever seen in the automotive world. Luckily my friends at Oracle have a solution for this, and it's probably the best 7 minutes I could ever hope to spend modifying this thing: IMG_2319.JPG IMG_...

Gladiator v2.0

I'm not even sure where to begin with the back story on this transition, but suffice it to say that priorities have shifted over time and the current situation is that I'm the oldest I've ever been, and I'm growing weary of the constant maintenance and general ownership burden of having so many vehi...

Hey Doug, glad to hear the old LJ is still around the area! I almost immediately regretted selling it... Re: Tire size Question

Kind of a loaded question, but in general terms I'd say that 35's will get it done. Of course that is all highly dependent on the vehicle itself (particularly wheelbase / breakover), the route you are on, and perhaps most of all driver skill. I know guys that can wheel a washing machine over places ...
