Rack

Postby Casey » Mon Nov 09, 2015 6:20 pm

Looking for a rack for my 2 DR JK. Main goal is to be able to carry my skis. If it works for other stuff later thats a plus, let me know what you got, Yakima rack stuff is outrageously priced so I'm seeing what I can find/make first.

Interested in:
used yakima stuff that will work with a 2 door
hitch mount ski racks, or bike racks I could modify
factory cherokee rack systems
pretty much anything I could possibly mount on my hardtop I might be interested in

I have a very large Yakima Sky Box that I need to sell. We were using it for our skis on the Mountaineer, but now I have a truck to haul everything.

It just needs two cross bars to attach to. $240 and it's yours.

I have a yakima ski rack, I am needing the actual roof rack system to mount it to, which is pretty spendy from yakima
Thanks though!

Ended up picking this setup off of craigslist for cheap. Looks a little lopsided cause its not strapped up.
My next step is figuring out a good way to keep the skis clean behind the jeep. The way the rack works normal ski bags won't work. I have an idea for a simple cover that slides over the top of one side and the bottom then buckles together, I would need two pairs, one for each side. does anyone know of a place that would make something custom like this? I figure I would ask here since the material I want to use would be similar to a soft top making it waterproof and strong.

buy a roll of saran wrap and wrap 2 skis together. 1 pair for each side.
