'68 Chev 3/4ton 2wd

Postby tobyw » Fri Jun 06, 2008 7:26 am

'68 Chevy 3/4ton 2wd pickup
* 6-cyl, 4-speed
* ~5k miles on rebuilt motor
* Very straight, all original
* Currently NOT RUNNING, but was shut down properly for extended storage
* Good tires
* Good glass

This would obviously be an extended weekend project to actually get back on the road, but would make a great runabout truck. I need to get it off my property SOON, so let me know if you're interested... I can deliver :lol:
Yep, I've wheeled one of those, too...

Quite honestly, I don't know what it's worth/what to ask, so if you're interested at all just let me know and we'll work it out.

I'll talk about it with Peanut when she gets home....

I'd assume its got a sm420 and a 292 or 250? Rochester dual jet carb? Points distributor? And 68 should be 6 lug with twin beam coil rear suspension..... Hmmm...

The SM-420 is in question... It's actually the main reason I picked the rig up (agreed to it based on description alone, never laid eyes on it though), but I have come to realize I simply don't have the time to bother. At any rate, SM-420's were actually phased out in '67 for light-duty applications, but it would not be entirely surprising to find some lingering into later years. This one, at least based on a quick visual when I finally drug it home, appears to NOT be an SM-420 though.

Also, IIRC, the rear is actually 8-lug... I'll have to double check that this evening??

There were 8 lug eaton 14 bolt rears used with coils as well as leaves so it is entirely possible to have an 8 lug rear.

Few hundred would suffice... Like I said, I just need it gone and honestly don't know too much about those trucks in general. I wanted it for the SM-420, but as it turns out that isn't whats in there, so I have zero attachment to it :?
