You're a better man than I. Today, my daughter said, "Well we won't make that mistake again."
And I said, "You won't, but your dad is helpless."
(Grocery run type of mistake on the small scale.)
Okay, we're a little crazy to have a Duramax for a daily driver. But if we go off our meds, we might wind up in a Prius.

Ryan (white trash) came by today and after careful inspection we came to the conclusion that my tranny and rear end are fine. Or as he put it "well, as good as a t4 or a 20 can be" so im back to square one. Gonna throw it all together and see what happens

Your going to put it back together and it's STILL going to howl! And as long as it doesn't grenade it'll be fine (as fine as a T4 can be)

Oh yeah! Fix the freaking detachable shifter before you kill yourself!

And have you replaced any u-bolts or that steering box bolt?

 He was going to replace the all thread bellhousing bolts I know that much.

I think it was the t case making all the noise. The rear output was really tight to turn till I forced it and smacked the t case shifter then it freed up and shifted fine. I think he pulled the truck in low and didn't get the t case back into 2 hi all the way so it was on the edge of being in 2 hi and low at the same time.

The trans actually looked good. The syncros and all the gears looked great and the bearings were in fine shape too. The rear end looked fine too.

You can pick up a u bolt from 6 states. Ranch & home carries them too but they are crap quality.
