I'm not sure where my rev-limit is, but with the 4-1 Tcase I'm glad it has one. It comes up real quick in the snow and sand.
Okay, we're a little crazy to have a Duramax for a daily driver. But if we go off our meds, we might wind up in a Prius.

Thus illustrating one of the many differences between an American V8 and a 4 banger of any nationality. . .my 40 year old motor would explode at 6k. . .It is good to 5k, but if I need that many Rs. . .somethin else is gonna give. I'd imagine the same would hold true with a Binder motor.

Werd.. Although that addage is kinda killed by old school f1 and indy cars that made nearly 4 digit hp #'s and about 50 ft lbs of torque. That is a far and away exception though.
I wanna say the "small block" IH weighs in the 'hood of 775lbs wet and accesorized.

Glove box liner
Some major to do stuff:
Brakes
Cage(Has a center hoop to start from)
Replace u-joints
Change all fluids
Complete tune up
Get the lights to work
See about getting the top to fit

Small update. If I could find 'em, I'd throttle a previous owner! When the exhaust was put on, seems instead of the correct bends to clear the t-case, some drone decided to lower the cross member. Well, the welds they inflicted are now broke, and the thing is loose. They stacked washers on longer bolts on the other side to even it up. And, tipped the radiator to match.
Other than that, I got the brake master and booster out. Them critters don't look none too good. Sludge in the master, and a top gasket that's about three sizes too big! Jeezus...
Going to blow out the hard lines Thursday, as I'm off. The line from the proportioning valve to the rear looks dry, too. Interesting. So, guess I best see what Jose's 'plan' is. Should be good
Also got the grill in, so now it doesn't lool like someone beat it too bad.

After a bit of interwebz research, it has been determined the beasty has a 304 in it...I think I can work with that. If it needs rebuilt, I can bore it to 392 specs and have me a bit more grunt.
Giving some thought to maybe an automatic in it at some point. That 3spd likely ain't gonna last...

Brakes are started. Got the master cylinder and front calipers and pads on today. Likely will tackle the rear tomorrow...Need to get on the seats, too. Them Recaros are starting to look neglected.

After a massive attack with my back, I finally got the rear brakes done!! One drum is just a tick off, but I got things to fit...Now to go snag a grinder so I can hack some parts off the seats, and grind off the slag left after someone tried to put a cage in it. Any suggestions on a grinder? May get a Makita like Steve and Jose have.

With the amount of usage you'll be giving it a makita would be severe overkill. I've been beating on $20 black & decker 4 1/2" grinders from wally world for years without failure till Zach got ahold of one.
Whatever you do get GOOD consumables! HF wheels & discs are 1000% CRAP don't waste your time. I get mine from oxarc in pasco but I'm sure Jose knows of a source closer to you.
