winch line

I got the viking syn winch line for christmas and went out and put it on and did a practice pull the other day and the winch was making a funny sound, so I played with it for alittle while and said well maybe its just me and left it at that. Then a couple of weeks later I was checking out that stus offroad website and he talked about the same thing and that if you happen to run the winch line over the top and through the fairlead it can cut the line and rip it all together. so I checked it out and that was the problem. So if you have this line on your winch make sure that it feeds out the bottom. Maybe that is known but just in case someone else made the same mistake as me.

the funny noise was probably your winch working against the brake. if i remember correctly that is why we go under not over.

bet you'll never do that again

ALWAYS go under. Why would you want to put more leverage on the mounting bolts by pulling from up high? They design things for a reason as you have found out handily.

I've been running viking line for a couple years now. I love it and have had zero issues with it. :D

Those synthetic lines are so nice.

My birthday is coming up, and this is one of the items on my wish list... :D
