Battery
Battery
TJDave has been embarrassing me by his ability to throw money in a hole called Jeep. I may not be able to run with the big dogs on that count, but I thought I'd waste cash of my own just to stay in that club...
Step one to dual battery land, by the way.
And, I don't smell like bacon when I give myself an electrical burn (12 volt, thankfully.)

Okay, we're a little crazy to have a Duramax for a daily driver. But if we go off our meds, we might wind up in a Prius.

Hope that yellow top lasts for ya. I have had nothing but terrible luck with any of the optimas I've bought in the last 6 or so years. It seems once they switched manufacturing to mexico that quality went into the crapper. The old ones were great though, Peanut has a 9 or so year old yellow top in her truck that still kicks mucho butt.

That is what I've been hearing Trashy, but I killed a Delco in no time and I can't afford a Odyssey. My fingers are crossed and it is living on what I think is a good trickle charger.

I would not call it "throwing". I've been stashing bits of money, and buying a part here and there for almost a year. Also, moving parts confirmation e-mails to a passworded file immediately and racing home to hide the boxes when they were dropped off
I totally agree with the "Hole called Jeep".
On the topic, I just replaced my battery a few months ago. My battery (was the factory original) just gave out one day with no warning. Could not even jump start it. I read online somewhere it is not possible to jump start a 2000+TJ with the electronic whatchamacallit ignition. I tried anyway. Nada. My Heep was my only reliable rig at the time so, I went to Auto-stone and bought their "yellow" top premium battery. Has a good warranty, hopefully I won't need it.

I jump started my TJ after I left the interior lights on last winter using my truck. No problem.
I'm still on my original stock battery even using my winch. Just waiting for my battery to die. 7 years and counting....

Now I just need another Optima. Too bad I just put my request in for another grill... I'm afraid the acquisition's department will squash my battery request.

I like the marine grade ones on my battery now [see above pic / post], but I was impressed Kilby included these in the kit... very nice.
Even included the screw in nubbins for the GM battery style connection.

Cheesy? Flattery will get you everywhere. If they are still on my shelf after I finish the project, they are yours. They are very nice.

I will point out that of all the bolt on crap out there kilby's stuff is top shelf and probably one of the 5 or so products that I can build that I'd just order them due to quality and well thought out designs.
Kinda of my thought... but I'll take measurements so the other TJ guys can try to fake it themselves.
In my 'bolt-on' defense, I'll be dong the dual battery wiring myself.

Building a capable off roader is easy, building a street legal one that you can wheel and then drive daily is the challenge...

Dave McMains who has Standard Battery / Battery Systems in Moses Lake gave me a great PNW4WDA member discount. About $50 bucks cheaper than what I paid last year. And his driver delivered here to the TriCities.

Hopefully wrapping it up in a week or so. I need cables for the dual set up, I hope I have enough winch power cable-length to reroute them, and I'm going to make a right and proper wiring harness for the lights, not the rats' nest that has some how developed. And the Power Distribution Center needs to be moved and the AC needs to be charged...

Cables shipped (yeah, I gotta a cable guy) along with some other stuff. If Brown, Blue or Uncle Santa get them here in time I may have this project done(ish) by the weekend.
Winch cables are rerouted, switches mounted, still need to get the A.C. charged and really need to avoid clicking it over to defrost until I do.
