Sooo.... might not be able to give up that neutral safety switch. My back up lights don't work and the bulbs are good. Internet search reveals that a Neurtal safety switch on its way out will cause no reverse lights

No problem - they're not the same anyway. Different part #'s and I think the older models don't send the same signals.
