Not too wheelin' related, but a rant.

Postby iaccocca » Tue May 13, 2014 8:40 am

I have taken Chinese take-out from Double Dragon Restaurant on Clearwater for years. That is my tithe to the wife when I go wheeling, camping, hunting, etc. Good food cheap, friendly. On Sunday, Chris went to pick up our order, called in well in advance. They were busy and were obviously overwhelmed. Chris did not complain, but people coming later were served 1st, they seemed to have lost our order... The young lady at the counter vented her frustration to Chris, saying, "Maybe you want my job? Here, you can even take the tip cup."

The young lady was lucky that I was at home watering my yard, because I would have picked up the tip cup and walked across the parking lot and bought burgers at Wendy's.

I called and talked to the 'manger.' She said, "Oh that was Lisa. I heard her say it."

And she still has a job?
Okay, we're a little crazy to have a Duramax for a daily driver. But if we go off our meds, we might wind up in a Prius.

Barefoot Off Road... They are over in Everett, so not exactly local, but in relative terms they are. Owner/operator, Theon, is a straight up class act. I ordered some parts online, he personally called me to let me know there was a back-order and gave me a list of OTHER VENDORS that he had already contacted on my behalf, along with their prices. Customer service DOES still exist
Yep, I've wheeled one of those, too...

I've got to put a word in for Peter and Charlie with Armor Performance Coatings in Richland. They do powder coating and high heat coatings. Have a super nice shop, give great advice, are super easy to work with and produce a great product. They are growing, so please send some business their way. You won't be disappointed.

Gotta say it's good to have a RV Mechanic as a Peakputter member.

So my plug is for the Trusty Wrench RV Doctor.

I've been wanting to convert my Motorhome for years to golf cart batteries, but the carriage underneath would only fit one 12v.

Paul stopped by and yanked the carriage out, took it to his shop, modded it to fit 2 new batteries, while still using the existing mounts. Had it all back together in no time. Great service, Thank you.

He stocks batteries too!

Hydratech braking systems.

If your looking for an oddball fitting to adapt a p/s system, hydro boost, or brake part they probably have it. They had all the parts I needed to adapt the hydro boost I'm putting in my bronco.
You can follow me.... but it's gonna hurt ;)

Upholstery / Sewing Work

Postby ZMBEKLR » Tue Jan 20, 2015 6:33 am

Having had the misfortune of ripping my rear softtop side window out of the YJ while wheeling at A&B. I found myself in need of a vendor to sew back together the vinyl window and the zipper assembly.

My wife found a great vendor I thought I would share with you all:

Final Touch Upholstery
8336 Gage Blvd
Kennewick, 99336
Victor Gomez, Owner
509-783-5002

http://www.finaltouchupholstery.com/

They resewed the window and zipper assembly while she waited, Whole 15 min and charged us $8.00. She had called several other shops and they all wanted $40-60 for the same repair.

They get two thumbs up in my book!! :thu2:

Yeah I've been planning on having them redo the foam in my driver seat. I just need to make the time.

They repaired a worn spot on the driver's seat of my truck. Could not tell that a panel of the seat had been replaced... nice work.

U Pull It Yakima

Postby OldGreen » Mon Feb 09, 2015 7:47 am

Go there, buy stuff.

I walked out yesterday with a full XJ switch package, a new antennae, and everything I need to put cruise control on my Jeep for less than $20.

Nice people too. 8)

I'm doubling down on the Final Touch recommendation. I just went over to see Victor because a zipper was separating on my new soft-top. He came right out- I'm sure he thought it was a 5 minute job. 1/2 an hour later and some mods to the top and we were done. He refused to bill me, so I left him with some doughnut money for his crew. :thu:

I'll give a recommendation to Firestone over on Columbia Center. I finally got all my adjustable control arms in as good as I could. I figured I'd get the arms dialed in and aligned as well. Norm did a great job getting everything dialed in. Hes a perfectionist and has owned a few Jeeps including a nicely built Cherokee that he had out front.

I also bought the lifetime alignments about 5 years ago which I definitely take advantage of.

The Jeep rides better that it has in a while, can't wait to take it off road in April.

They should lock the doors when they see us wheelers come in to buy the lifetime alignment.

Many of the guys at that Firestone wheel. Chad is the head tech and owns 3 or 4 cherokees.

Norm is actually listed on this board, though he hasnt been on for a long time. His handle is "abnormaloffrd". He's the one who sold me up on the Firestone's with Roadhazard Warranty.

Yet another plug for Final Touch.

I took my lower driver's boat seat in with a tear that has been growing for the last few years.
Because our boat is 23 years old, Victor said he couldn't match it, but he would try his best.
I think he did pretty darn great!
