I bet I could rig up one of those overly-complicated mechanical contraptions... Off to find a fulcrum, some dominos, and a lacrosse stick
Yep, I've wheeled one of those, too...

How do you like the wireless remote? I've heard there was some delay when using them.
You can follow me.... but it's gonna hurt ;)

There is indeed a slight delay. I would not recommend it for something like a hoist, but for recovery I think it will work fine.

Yes, it's a station wagon. Yes, there is relatively prolific storage behind the rear seat. Yes, I am often accused of packing too much junk (just ask my wife  ). However, spare axle shafts and bearings are something that every wheeling rig should have stored somewhere, and even with the aforementioned qualites of the mighty XJ, I wasn't satisfied with my options. So, out came the grinder and hot glue gun...

And the payoff...

Secure under-seat storage for two complete shaft assemblies (the shafts are retained with quick clamps) and a unit bearing 8)

Nice! I especially like the repurposing of the swimming pool noodles. Brilliant!

Not that your XJ has any body cracking problems, but mine have some starting in almost the exact spot that you removed. :?

Yep, it's only a matter of time; any XJ that gets wheeled with any sort of regularity will succumb to stress issues. GGv1.0 went the way of the accordian below the rear windows, and had several stress cracks throughout the unitbody. The doors would barely open/close on flat ground, let alone when twisted up on the trail somewhere...
