How do you know your Jeep is out of warranty?

How do you know your Jeep is out of warranty? A light comes on on the dash.
True story. My power-train warranty (unrelated to the check engine light) expires this week and the light came last night on my way to the Region 4 meeting. Now, if it is a bad cat or PCM, my federal emmisions warranty goes for another 12 months.
Code = PO174 Bank 2 System too lean.
I'm going to go the easy route and start by cleaning the MAP sensor. And make sure the cats aren't loose. What's bank 2 on a straight 6? I think I have three catalytic converters.
Check for vacuum leaks and maybe replace the PCV valve. (Should probably do that anyways.)

Okay, we're a little crazy to have a Duramax for a daily driver. But if we go off our meds, we might wind up in a Prius.

Bank 2 most likely means that you have two upstream, precat, oxygen sensors. I am a bear of very little brain, but if the condition is isolated to one bank of cylinders, that would indicate something NOT related to air intake. It would be more like a clogged injector. On the other hand, MAP and PCV are still good things to check. At the very least I would pull all of the plugs on that bank and see if any of them are white.
I voided my new Jeep warranty when I started wheeling with Lurch.
I have not had that problem you're describing, Lee. I would go with PCV, cleaning the map, O2 sensors, the easy stuff. I'm actually waiting for my stock Mopar battery to go as its been 8 years and the winch is drawing off it.

8 years on the stock battery with a winch? I'm on my nth battery.

Check your plugs & wires, if any were bad it might throw that code

Building a capable off roader is easy, building a street legal one that you can wheel and then drive daily is the challenge...

What are these wires you speak of?
The plugs are newish, but I'll probably pull them just to check for a lean condition. I cleaned the MAP sensor and reset the code. 50 miles or so later the light is still off. I'm under no illusion that that was the fix, but it was the easiest thing to do. This tank o' gas has my friend Techron in it because the idle was getting rough, maybe that cured an injector problem and the problem is fixed. Thing still runs like a raped ape (by my easily amused standards) and idles and runs fine.

What? is it diesel??? Why no wires? is it those stupid pulse packs like I had on my Crewcab Ford or what? If he has plugs something gives them spark right?

...and I am having a hell of a time tuning the carb. And don't get me started on adjusting the points.
