How is the angle at ride hieght? You could always run some limiting straps to keep it from dropping to far and binding. An engine lift will help a little.
May want to consider a high angle shaft from Tom Woods.

Do you have shocks mounted yet? Doesn't look like it. The shocks may limit your droop once installed.

Yes, that driveshaft is off the front of a mid 70s waggy, it's a temp to move it around, really getting tired of pushing it. The CV was also clearanced some for a little more movement, and to learn a little.
Not sure about the shorting at the splines? Just cut the tube and re-welded.
I'm trying to decide which direction to go with the driveshaft, is TW the only one that will clearance them?

Yes, the pinion is a couple deg. lower than pointing at the xfer case.
I'm getting a little over 4" of drop at the pumpkin on the lift, a limiting strap might be a good idea.

No shocks yet, still trying to figure out how to get longer shock on the back, at this point Ford shock towers look like the they will fit nicely for the front.

No need for Ford towers up front. Cut the top plate off the YJ towers and fab up a couple of tabs to mount eye-eye shocks. I have 10" reservoir shocks up front, with "stock" towers

From what I was seeing, the old tower are more on the back side of the axle to allow for low shock mounts, I want the shock on top of the axle to keep them out of the way.

I'm running the stock Waggy shock mounts on the axle. Off the back side, about center line.

Guess it doesn't look as bad at ride height.
Did move on it's own but got a leak inbetween the cases, ugh.

Got to play a little this weekend.
The doubler seems to work using the stock shifter.
Xfer is in low, but did drive nicely.
Got a better idea of how the suspension is going to move.
The rear brakes need some help, seems double low they aren't holding.
There are also some obviously missing parts like shocks, the rear fenders need to be cut, longer shackles for the rear, and steering issues but the suspension does seem to move nice.

I like what you've done. I just picked up a 91 yj about a month and a half ago and it's already set up with a soa with Scout dana 44's. It running 33's yet sits higher than my tj on 35's. So I'm really interested in how you frenched your mounts.

Are you still running the stock master? You need more fluid movement....

I used a Lincoln, but there are MANY that bolt on...

If you do French the springs, especially if using 4 position, make sure you have enough room for the spring eye when boxing the ends. I didn't do this and got very luck they fit, probably restricts the movement a little and not sure after market spring will fit.
There is also some fuel lines and a filter on the driver's side.

Just somethings to watch out for.

I do have the ford/Lincoln 4 way disk brake cylinder. I'm using the stock proportioning valve which probably isn't helping. I think the back brakes need some de-rusting help. Pulling it into the shop the fronts where locking up and the backs where pushing, another bug to work out.

Took a second look at modifing the stock shock towers, this measured out nicely with 12" shocks, thanks for the tip.

Trying to get the frontend done and if I had to do this for a living, I'd probably starve with the lack of speed.

First up, bump stops. Nothing fancy just some plate and box tube.
Image

Next up, shock towers. Jose suggested using the stock towers and I kind was thinking a different route but after measuring, they were about perfect length. Only issue with the stock tower is the top mount is for a stud not shock eyes.

Some 2" box tube was cut & drilled.
Image

New mount on top of uncut shock tower.
Image

The tower top was cut off and the new mount was added along with some bottom mounts.

And the two new parts somewhat together.

So the Jeep is back on the rack. We were trying to get the brakes working right and the doubler wouldn't shift back out of low. The doubler was leaking anyways so it had to come back out.
Shinny new wheel spacers, not wild about them but now the track width front and rear is the same.
Image

When we disassembled the doubler we couldn't find any reason for the glittery fluid. After cleaning and reassembling, the input gear had way to much play, don't remember this the first time. I used the wrong input bearing (maybe a 5sp?) but the bearing was swapped, rub marks were found and it was put back together with no extra slop.
Nicely washed box-o-parts

And hopefully some new shift rods, with the doubler extra length, stock mounting will come up under the passenger's seat.

A little more work.
My mad fab skill are more mad than skill but it's coming along.

Extended shifter installed, required a little floor modification.

And now to cover up the linkage:

The corner was knocked off so the passenger doesn't have "as sharp" of a point to hit their foot on.

And TJ flares, not sure I like them but the tires don't rub.

Started a bumper

Pie cut for a little taper, front and bottom

capped the ends

Happy with how it turned out but still needs to be cleaned up.

Started a winch mount

radiator protector
Image

needed some way to mount the bumper and rad loop, template was made
Image

Wanted a little more support of the rad. loop than just the two M12 bolts and the YJ just happens to have these exiting holes.
Image

welding in an anti-crush tube

New rad. loop and bumper mount.

Was hoping to get more done but hunny do(s), visitors and an unexpected car show kind of slowed things down.
Rusted on fenders are a pain to get off and most bolts are not air tool accessible. Also didn't realize how much is hanging off the fenders and what they are hiding. Going to have a little change in the fender design now.

Fenders off
Image

Line for the 1.5" hood cut. This puts the hood at the same level as the rear fender flares.

Continuing at a snails pace.

Driver's side bracket for rad. protector/fenders. The extra clearances bolt is for the steering bracket, the captive nut broke and I sleeved the frame to fix it.
Image

Don't leave me hanging. OK for some reason the wife mentioned Jeep parts hanging around the other day. I figure bird feeder, wind chimes, jeep parts, it's all good.
Image

Getting there slowwwwwwwwly.

Kind of looks like you tube ends are off a bit from the mounting points?

Just a little, good thing it's easier to shrink tube than grow it.

Square is a very relative term with this Jeep, like nothing is square.
I am fairly happy with the loop but a few radiator mods are needed to center the grill.
