After a bunch cajoling and brain storming, it's been decided to go with an AX15/D300 for the critter Steve has the trans in hand, and thinks he has a line on a T-case in Moses Lake (Jim, I saved the one you sent me the note on). Now that that has been decided, it's going to mean getting on the suspension a bit sooner that we planned. Don't want to make driveshafts twice Also will need to study on flywheels a bit. We have the one from the same Jeep as the trans, and will do some cipherin' next day or so...Also, Steve scored some Recaro seats that're gonna work just about right

Update: Seems some phone calls were made today, and a D300 was located here in Kennewick This may cause me to be in a better mood I think Steve was working on the clocking as well. Just might get some forward momentum going here...

I used the ax15 to D300 adapter from CJOFFRoad.com and it worked perfectly. remember, you need the clocking ring AND the spacer that comes with the AX15 to D300 adapter.
Make sure he gets the Master/Slave assembly from the donor rig as well or buy a new one online with the part numbers I gave you before. I can help you do the bell crank to hydro clutch conversion if you want. It is actually one thing that I did that is pretty damn clean.
Suspension. . .if it were me, the first thing I would do is put the frame on jackstands and hack off the existing spring mounts and buy some for a YJ. Get the springs you want. . .I'd do the yoters like Roman has or Rubicon Express 2.5" Extrme Duty Wrangler springs or BDS Wrangler springs for the front and XJ Cherokee 4.5" lift springs for the rear (mounted in the correct direction, but. . .SPRING UNDER). Even better would be MJ Comanche Lift springs. Then weld the new mounts on the frame where they need to be. . .DONE. You would get MAD TRAVEL with that setup AND it would be biased towards bump-travel, which is what Steve wants. . .Don't worry about the advertised lift of the springs being different. Since the Cherokee springs are designed to be Spring Over, they have less arch overall than the wrangler springs and you can compensate with taller spring perches in the rear if you have to. . .(taller spring perches on a spring under spring lowers the ride height)
I think that this set up would work really, really well with some badass shocks and bumps like Steve wants.
But what do I know. . .

We now have custody of an AX15/D300 setup. Need to get the adapter ordered, and prevail on Jim to invent an operating system The rig's gonna drop about 200# near as I can guess Steve, Jose, and Jimmy have been hashing the suspension out some, too. Details later.

'Fraid not I think I'll get the t-case in tomorrow, but then we need to get the suspension/axles under it, and make drive lines What gets done the next 3 weeks is problematical, as Steve will be working every night till around 11. Maybe Father's Day

That takes ferever Top 3 are of the Eagle parts after install. Intake manifold, exhaust manifold, and the other essential accessories came off that car.
The T18/D20 after extraction. Gawd, what a mess. There was something leaking awful, and there was oil everywhere. Look at inside of bellhousing
We also have the Monster itself, and Steve looking busy, then the new boxes. An AX15/D300. Makes me so happy
Also a view of the new flywheel/clutch/pressure plate.
The "Jive Turky" is gonna be as much J##p as IH when we get done
