After having my inner axle seals replaced recently the left side was actually leaking worse after replacement than it was before I had it replaced. After pulling the axle shafts and carrier I found out why. The felt "O-ring" suplied by RCV to keep the grease from oozing down the tube from the outside edge in had been pushed all the way in against the seal causing the leak. Removed the felt, replaced seal, going back together now. Should be right as the mail in about an hour.

If you decide to go forward with it a little advice... Think twice about the axle truss... I can't use straps to secure it to my flat bed. The sharp angles cut through them like a hot knife through butter in less than 20 miles. Have to use chains. Also, if your planning on sleeves, gussets, and new axle shafts I would recommend replacing the steering knuckles with these while you've got em off...

More Sahara stuff....

Ordered Rock Krawler lower arms, upper arms, 3-link rear upper kit, front track bar, rear track bar, drag link and tie rod.

Parts should be here in the next few days then its wait time til Bryan finishes Radicals Rubicon build and installs his own Rock Krawler long arm kit complete with coil overs.

Ideally we should be getting started on mine in 2 weeks. Needless to say I cant wait to see the finished product. As TJDave wote on a previous thread... "Bryan does good work".

Scored a factory e-locker out of a 2012 Titan with like 6k miles on it. the info I was able to find online says that its the same part number from spicer as the Rubicon locker. Bryan and I are going to lay it out on his bench and take some measurements tonight. Hopefully it will work and I'll have a locker for my rear end finally.

Gear ratio brake? If its a 373 down let me know

I need/want custom inner axles anyways so the 32 spline could be overcome

dont you dd this? weld ons are often hard to balance out. personally id run an internal lock inner air or stauns

also i believe those are the coopers (12.5 wide) with weld ons 17x9's become esentially 17x10.5's which imo isnt optimal

They look cool but beadlocks grab enough "stuff" with just a small lip, I could imagine all the mud, snow, or whatever that large lip is going to collect. Then getting all that "stuff" out before heading down the road with somewhat balanced tires, might be fun too.

the rim size will work ok. most usally stick to a 8" wide.
also your ball joints are going to be pissed. i use to replace mine about every 4 months. and i tig welded mine and used a balance machine to try and get the rings close. the bolts are what kills it.

All advice above is solid. Keep a close eye on your ball joints, ditch the blingy centers unless you have another set of tires for DD duty. . .and I would even spring for seeing if sharky or someone with the ability to weld on a lathe would put them on.

Weld on beadlocks are a great solution for the guys with "rock only" rigs that don't see pavement time much, but DD rigs are better off living with a RARE blown bead or ponying up for purpose built beadlocks (internal like Rock Monsters or add on internal like Staun are best)

Do the balance beads work pretty good with weld-on bead locks?

Talk to toyman2. He had weld-ons on his DD. I've talked to him about them a bit and he hasn't mentioned any road issues. Pretty sure he has 37x12.5 on it.0

I've always used steel bb's to balance offroad tires. My 38" sx's were smoother than any bias tire that large should have ever been with weld on beadlocks. :lol:

Any decent DIY beadlock will have the bolts spaced so the bead of the tire rests against them to center the tire. So as long as the inner ring is welded centered it won't be a problem. I used the same set of laser cut beadlocks on 42 and 44" tsl's and they weren't bad once the flat spots went away. They spun true. :D

I have also heard of this technique. Add about a shot glass full of BB's and a little ani-freeze. the BB's spinning around inside the tire will ballance itself. Anywho, we shall see as I have already decided on getting these. thanks for all the input though. If it doesnt work out, well then lesson learned...

no liquid, no grease just airsoft bbs or regular. the fluid will slow down the bbs and cause miss balance youll fight them the whole time

Moisture in the tire will cause them to freeze in cold weather and bunch together. Antifreeze prevents this I read...

How cold does it really get around here? And if they do freeze up some, the rolling round in the tire and road heat will break it up fast.
I've run BB and airsoft, really liked the way they balanced out but did get funny looks coming to stops.
