Dodge Transmissions

Anyone know anything about dodge transmissions?

Think the one in my Dad's pickup is on the way out for the 2nd time. It's a '94 3/4 ton with a 5.9 Magnum V8 and auto trans. The engine has ~300k on it, but it still runs great, lot of power and no smoking - burns a very tiny amount of oil.

If there are cheapish manual transmissions available I'm thinking that dropping one in would be better than scrapping the truck. If no that, perhaps a junkyard auto will last the rest of the life of the engine.

Any thoughts?

Nv4500 is 2grand...I've been looking some v8 trucks have them some are 3550s rebuilt can be done for about a grand...do you know if its 46re or 47re? What are the symptoms?
