the building block has been acquired.
1995 XJ, Auto Trans, Cruise Control (must for expo rig), AC (doesn't really work at the moment), and a very nice/clean interior. Tow package, but manual windows and locks. . .basically everything I wanted and nothing I didn't. It is even the correct year.
Pics tomorrow after I take the studs off. . .yes, the PO hadn't driven it since March 28 when he bought his. . .gulp. . .Prius.
Drove out fine at 70 from Yakima, but some minor repairs and daily driver duty for Jessy will ensue before the build begins in earnest. One thing I think I'm certain of. . .I will not own 3 white Cherowagons for very long. This one needs to be BLUE!!

OK. . .parts ordered.
Exhaust manifold
AC Compressor
PS pressure jose (see what I did there?)
TCase output seal.
It is currently a 242 fulltime/parttime/etc. case. . .dunno. . .maybe I'll keep it??
It would be nice to have full time engaged on mountain passes whilst bombing to my next bucket list destination. . .no?

I'd keep the t-case. My TJ is expo-rigish, and I'd really like to throw one in mine if I figure out how to shorten one up.

Well. . .in an XJ at least, you can throw a Hack n Tap SYE in a 242 and use a front driveshaft in the rear. . .That's likely going to get the nod. That way, both driveshafts are the same.

Cup holders and tailgate struts are on the way as well.
While all this stuff is enroute and being applied, we'll work on detailing it and getting some photos posted.

Save the old/dead tailgate struts... they can be repurposed for hood struts. It's on my list as well

*shrugs*
I just
spanked the Rubicon on a D30 with 33's, and drove over 2000 miles at 70+mph with the A/C cranked on cruise control... We don't need no stinkin' 3-link and D44's
*** The above response was written purely in gest, in case anyone ever actually takes me seriously. Although, it is true... ***

Dear Jafo,
Please tell me the level of effort required to build steekers like this for the new XJ after it gets painted?

All of this stuff is in and functioning nicely after this next wheelin' trip, it will get a tune up and then driven for a couple of months to work out the kinks.

It has been a while since I updated this thread. . .
Jess has been driving the snot out of the littler fella. . .still pretty much all stock, but that is about to change.
It is going to get about 2" of lift and 235s or 30x9.50 and different wheels. Likely 15x7 Outlaw II.
and
A paint job. . .probably Fire Engine red like a Corvette. Anybody wanna make a few bucks? We're looking at April to get it done and I can't paint anything larger than a bumper. . .The plan is to pop the windshield out and smooth up some surface rust. . .paint, then put the new windshield in.
Won't be much of a wheeler, but it is the BEST kid car I know of. They are so easy to drive it isn't even fair. . .like a SUV go-cart.
