Ye of no IH faith  210 NET HP in 1974, or about the same as a 454, or just more than a 450cc B&S mower engine. Torque was about the same as the big block, except it was all on by about 12rpm, and stayed on to whatever you could squeeze out for rpm on any given day...

Okay, we're a little crazy to have a Duramax for a daily driver. But if we go off our meds, we might wind up in a Prius.

Nobody cares about the brackets unless they have tabs to add more lights. :mdr

Is it bad form to continually question someone's knowledge when they have broken and bent more parts than you've ever bolted on? Just askin'...

I don't think so. . .everyone should question everything. That's how innovation happens. However, experience gives a solid starting point to innovate FROM.

But there's a reason that they call it "tribal knowledge"

Building a capable off roader is easy, building a street legal one that you can wheel and then drive daily is the challenge...

Grumpy, you asked for my help?
Ok, well honestly, I will just say it....
I am bored with the "trash" talk.
I LOVE this club...and I think there are quite a few members that I would sit and listen to all night long...soaking in their experience and knowledge. I also have had the privileged of following a few of these same club members over the last year on club runs. Not only do I have a great time (which is what this is all about) but they tolerate my learning....(thank goodness).

I've said it before, and will say it again....everyone is proud of their choice of vehicle...I love our JK but am just as excited that we are now building an XJ....

This forum is a venue for sharing, friendship, welcoming of new members and the solicitation and receipt of mountains of advice....but what it shouldn't be is place to attack or insult anyone's driving ability or choice of transportation.....that is not to say that a little good nature d "ribbing" is out of the question..... I would never resist an opportunity to photograph Orville upside down, or Steve's pretty yellow truck in a tree, but my day will come.....and when it does, I will smile with the "best" and thank the Lord I lived to wheel another day!

I will make sure you have another opportunity to get O's undercarriage on film. . .

Vehicle specific ribbing is/was/and always will be part of every automotive hobby. 98% of it is unjustified. Trashy is an arsehole that must be filtered for content. He's actually the same guy in person and it takes a special person to love him (bless Peanut, she's a saint).

Think of it this way: There is one in every group and if you can identify that person, it is probably NOT YOU!!. Dodged that bullet. . .whew. . .

Now, the important thing: you are building an XJ?????????? MUST SEE DETAILS!!!!! The absolute best dual sport, multi-use vehicle to build on the CHEAP. I would have NEVER said that until I owned one. I only bought it as an interim wheeler while I bolstered the coffers to build my 7, but now I am totally hooked and own 4 of them at various states of completion/readiness. Make a post and let us follow along. CALL OR PM me or Dave or Toby if you need a direction.

/hijack off/

YES!
I promise we will start a build thread this weekend....
It came to us thru Brett ( Lee's nephew)
Lance put a new motor, radiator, and more mechanical stuff in it this week...
It needs a good cleaning, front axle....more lift, wheeling tires, a wench...new door locking mechs for the back doors, just for starts! But it will be MINE!!!!!!
Gonna take awhile....but it will be trail worthy!

I am super excited!
