A new Playground

A lot of our posts have degraded (upgraded?) to rig bashing. I drive this, you drive this, etc. I thought it would be fun to have a place for this. Rules are simple, basically the same rules of the forum, play nice, but you can be as mean to Trashy as you want (he actually likes it), and you gotta be honest... sure your rig is the best thing since sliced bread, but...

And on the 8th day God made the LJ

I drive a LJ (long TJ) and the LJ Rubicon is the greatest, best Jeep God has ever given man on the face of the earth out of Toledo. But I am not a fanatic. What makes it the bestest? That would be hard to say, but the combination of wheelbase, that fantastic straight 6 that makes 80% of its torque at idle (take that JKs) and that coil suspension. What's bad? That suspension. You make one change and you are chasing gremlins all day long. Can anyone say death wobble?

I too have a Scout in various piles of parts. I also have a 4runner that the only good thing on is the jeep traction assist device (aka tow hitch) :P

Having owned 2 Toyota 4x4's, and 1 Jeep, I know they are both hard to kill.

Having seen hundreds of Scouts, only two were in running condition.

Having driven and ridden in a few JK's, they are nice.
But, I believe Jeep made a huge mistake by getting rid of the true tub-on-frame utility vehicle.....

Which is a Jeep,...
of which the last model produced was a TJ,
and is what I own, and is obviously the best-est.

So there.

:P

I revert to my preference for anything that gets you to the hills. There are no pretentious, uppity 4x4s but there are pretentious, uppity 4x4 drivers. :P

And I drive a JKU with only bolt on parts pretentiously, but I at least I get out there and have fun, using my knowledge and/or lack of to learn more, experience more, live more... :lip:

I know I'm not too experienced.... And some would say wheeling a JKU doesn't count....... But....
Since Trashy never wheels.... I guess out wheel him....
(Ok,how was that for inflammatory and pretentious .... My bolts are all loose! But I can't see them anyway)
XO.

I had a LJ and loved it! I decided to get rid of the payment on it as money was tight! Plus it was hard to get my daughter and all her friends around town crawling in and out of it. Now after a year and a few months we were able to take on a payment again so now I have a Rubicon JKU. Haven't gotten it on the trail as of yet but it is itching for a few scratches. Love the 4 doors though.....easier to take a kid places!!

Iulia and I have a money tree growing in out back yard and an endless supply of cash so we choose to build 2 rediculously expensive JKU's. They are both far superior to anything else out there. Neither of them have ever been stuck in snow, mud or sand and the fuel tank on the Red Rock Pearl coat one is so huge Iulia never has to fill it up before heading out on the trail! BONECRUSHER is also a head turner (very pretty Jeep) which is the most important thing right?

I remember when I had to have the my first ScoutII looking like a show car all the time. I even painted the underside and engine area a couple times a year. Of course, I was 25, not 65 then too. Now all I'm likely to want is for the damn thing to work!

I actually like every rig on this board. Even the Scouts.
There are no two rigs that are identical, even if they started with the same platform.
Everyone has their own ideas and mods. Pretty neat I think.

I think my driving ability might be better than my confidence level. My years of driving concrete mixers and dump trucks on crappy jobsites has permanently messed with my off camber side hill pucker meter.
Riding dirtbikes and quads from a 8 year old kid, until not too long ago, really helped me the most.
Sure teaches a guy to scan the terrain ahead and know where to place your tires.

And I agree with Lee. If I could start over, it would be with an TJ Unlimited Rubicon.

Still a TJ. Just better. 8)

Wait, I call BS! What a crappy cover-up for drug dealers (money tree), and then to imply their (JKUs) pretty and never run out of gas? Is this code to throw of the authorities? And how many pounds or kilos can those two busses transport?

Not a whistleblower just curious? Don't come to my house to rub me out I am now armed and dangerous...
