i have the PSC box and a stock pump in my TJ and haven't had any issue with 37s. i did order it with the ports already installed for hydro assist just in case.

Wifey got me a new winch for Christmas. Used funds from selling the old one to buy synthetic rope. . . I have to admit that it isn't the exact one that I wanted but it will work GREAT when I need it. I am super excited to have it checked off of the list. It is a Superwinch in case you can't see it in the pics.

All winches are worth there weight in gold when needed.
Just out of curiosity, which winch where you looking at?

Yep, My latest old one was a Harbor Freight short drum 6k with 1/4" synthetic. The dude that bought it from me is putting it on a flatty. PERFECT. That little sucker pulled like crazy right up until the day before I took it off. There is so much competition in the Winch market now that MOST of them are really good. I will tell you one thing to look for though. . .

NEVER buy a winch with the clutch lever on the END of the housing. There are many that are designed that way and it is a constant source of failure. The cap on the end of the housing should not have to bear a load and it ends up cracking if you use the winch regularly.

mine is actually the predecessor of the tentrax it's a backcountry tent trailer. dry weight is 650 lbs. the tongue is removable or replaceable with a long tongue like yours.

I got the Smittybilt RTT. It is actually really stout. I will post more pictures tomorrow when I get the mount finished.

In anticipation of the 2" mattress not being enough squishy, I got a couple of the hybrid foam rubber egg crate matt and put them under the mattress cover on top of the stock mattress.

I am happy to report that the alpha test was a success. It rained like crazy and then got really windy. The wind was a little loud but I was warm and dry. The lights inside are awesome.

So... how stable is the trailer with two adults floppin' around upstairs? Does it have to be connected to the vehicle... or do you have outriggers planned?

That is the trick. . .the way I built the trailer was 75/25 rear/front for axle placement. The trailer is light enough that I can still load it however I want and it doesn't matter for towing unless I put 100 gallons of water on the tongue or something.

As for the tent, it is totally stable. The only moving around that it does is from the movement of the trailer springs which are pretty stiff. I actually think that it is more stable off the Jeep than on because the tongue is on solid ground rather than on the rear suspension of the Jeep. This is another place where the 75/25 ratio comes into play. . .no fear of tipping any direction.
I thought about outriggers but they simply aren't needed with the way it is set up. If you buy a trailer or build one modeled on a military 1/4 ton, you'd have to either leave it hooked to the Jeep or have stabilizers of some sort or it would tip backwards. I designed the trailer with this use case in mind from day one so it just isn't an issue. Kinda looks goofy with the long wheelbase but it works GREAT. . .now on to real world testing. . .

that was the old trailer danny, but you are right. that trailer opened away from the tongue and used an outrigger to prevent piping back (which i forgot to put that evening).

the new trailer open towards the tongue to eleviate that issue, no outriggers needed even when disconnected from the trailer. but i do use tire chocks.

New MT/Rs and a bath. First major mod is actually coming next week....

5.13s and rear Detroit Locker are in. Lurch did the set up and found a bunch of other stuff that needed attention. Rear brakes, axle seals, etc. All is squared away! It is really nice not to have to push that OD button every time I leave the house. I'm also installing a new speedo gear this week to recalibrate it and the shift points.

Speedo went from reading 15% low to 20% high. 60mph hums along at 2100rpm. Just perfect!!

I am also super excited to drive super slow!!

Ok. New speedo gear in. Best $24 mod ever. Having the shift points in the right spots is priceless. If you have an automatic TJ and your speedo is wrong....do this now.
