It was time to doll up the tow rig a bit. I came across a great deal on a set of lights that I just couldn't pass up, so it was time to fabricate...
Started off with some CAD (Cardboard Aided Design):
Transferred that to some box tubing, which ensures I get that ever-critical rolled edge:
A little love with the plasma cutter and grinder, and we have some brackets:
And here they are mocked into place on the frame mounting ears:
Out came the tube bender with some 1-3/4 x 0.090 wall tubing:
After tacking the tube into place between the brackets, I tacked the assembly to a chunk of flat bar to keep things from walking around as I finished welding it all out. I jigged it all up on my handy wooden body cart (I built that to roll the body of my flat fender around the shop), and finished it up with some light mount tabs:
A little Duplicolor Exact Match paint to play off the lower body color of the pickup, and I mounted it up and slapped on the lights:
I'll work on wiring later this afternoon or tomorrow; won't take long thanks to the pre-wired Upfitter switches already in the truck.

Yep, I've wheeled one of those, too...
