FJ80 Slow Build

Postby pascoscout » Sun Jul 19, 2015 5:00 pm

So finally starting in on my FJ80 to fill some time while I save up for the next steps on my IH Scout project. The FJ is pretty capable right out of the box as it came with front and rear lockers.

So far I've put on 33's, added a 1" body lift (for reasons that will be shown later) and this weekend I started on a new rear bumper so I can get the full size spare out of the back cargo area.

Nice to see a cruiser build. Year? Miles? I've had mine since 05. Nothing like wheeling in style and comfort.

It's a 1997. Has 255,000 miles but other than some slight wear to the drivers leather it runs and drives like a new car.

I upgraded to this from a first gen 4runner. The 4runner was cool and lots of fun but like you said its nice to wheel in style.

Ya I replaced my front leather a couple years ago. Lots of good info on ih8mud. Other than normal maintenance the only issue I've had was the hg at 90k.

Little more progress. Made some mounting brackets.

Skipped a lot of steps but I am mostly done with the rear bumper. Need to finish the tire swing out. I have a full build thread on ih8mud for this if anyone cares to see it.

It's been a while but finally got the rear swing out on my bumper. Also built a front bumper from a kit I ordered from Relentless Fabrication. Mostly left it the way it came but added a few personal touches. Again full build on Ih8mud for any that care to see.
