Image. Well an axle anyway. JK center section, Ford 8.8 disc brakes, Ford 9" bearings and retainers with 35 spline axles and an ARB. TJ width and brackets with 4.56 gears an an ARB installed. Let the fun begin again....

Thats a bad d44 biggest ring and pinion. Any reason not to go full 9inch?

Its definitely not a TJ D44. The pinion is close in size to a D60 pinion and the ring gear is 8.9 inches in diameter. The axle tubes are much thicker than my current assembly. The shafts are a thicker 35 spline instead of a D44 30 spline. This setup seemed to be closer to a D60 in strength but with better ground clearance.

They want crazy money for the 9" axles. If I were rolling my Jeep on 40s it would definitely be the way to go. Also I'd have to go to a 5x5.5 bolt pattern meaning new wheels.

. Got the new one in. The major stuff is bolted in. Going to run a new solenoid and air line for the new ARB. Also running an extended diff breather.

Can't wait to get this new beast on the road.

How is the emergency brake stuff work?

The cables just replace the ones from the old drum brakes and connect to the "Y" just like stock.

I didn't really have to adjust it much and it holds a heckuva lot better than it ever did even when I brought the Jeep home brand new.

I'm about to take it out for a spin. Just have one issue, inside the bushings to one of the rear shocks, the bolt froze inside of the metal insert to the bushing. I can't get it out. Anywhere I can pick one of these up. Tried O'Reilly and AutoZone already to no avail.

They have a variety of sleeves like that at Ranch and Home. Last time I needed some, I just cut the right sized tubing to lenght.

Thanks Jimmy! And to add about the disk brakes.

They are Ford 8.8 disk brakes with internal drum brake for the parking brake. The brake cables are actually for a ZJ or TJ and bolt right up.

I did not know there were drum bakes on the backside of the rotors. Are they set up like a tj with disk/drum combos?

There are brake shoes similar ti a drum brake inside the "hat" of the rotor. Most ford trucksack and suv's have a similar set up for the parking brakes.

That's exactly how the brakes are on mine, Tim.

Now I'm gonna clean the dirt off the old axle and pop the cover and see what's going on.

Pretty soon I'll put up for sale the RD100 D44 ARB, a set of Alloy USA chromoly axle shafts for drum brakes and a set of D44 shafts out of a Rubicon. If the housing is good I'll put that up too.

I'd be interested in the Rubi D44 shafts.
