JK tonneau cover version 2

Postby Yrjan » Sat Feb 13, 2016 8:15 am

Some of you may remember when I built a tonneau cover for BONECRUSHER 2 years ago. I'll be starting version 2 next week. it will be similar to this... http://www.jkowners.com/forum/showthread.php?t=182809 but mine will go from the back of the front seats all the way to the tail gate. It will have side compartments that will be accessible through the rear doors via paddle handles. the only tool I am missing for this project is a router for beveling the edges for a nice clean look. If anyone has one that I can borrow I would greatly appreciate it. Stay tuned for more action and suspense! (and some pictures too as work progresses =)

Are you looking for a hand held unit or a router table? If it's a hand held unit your welcome to it.

I started with a cardboard template and got one side almost done. I still need to trim the sides in a bit before I hit them with the router. For some reason it's posting my pictures in a backwards order and I can't figure out how to switch them around.

This is very cool. I loved how the last one came out. I am going to something similar to the LJ.

2 side pieces are coming along. got them routed, got the tee nuts installed and the wood filler in. just need to sand them down and paint on the monsterliner. next up is the center sections... I realize they look a little rough but after I polish them up with some sand paper and paint on the monsterliner they will look amazing, trust me! =)

How thick is the plywood and what grade is it?

Not sure about the grade. There was one other one quite a bit more expensive than this one. It's 3/4" and was like $20 a sheet.
