Good to know. Do you think you would have been zapped if you grabbed the coil wire while it ran?

I am not sure. The vortec coil has a driver....I know the power from the driver leaves a good jolt...would not want to find out the coil side of it.

Went to funny rocks with some VIT plant people....
Front diff is leaking from behind locker motor.....for some reason the front wasn't unlocking also. Drove up there and back pretty much ok (had one plug wire shift and short on a header but a zip tie took care of it)
Need to get my compressor mounted and wired and some new rear leafs since the 63s are not doing it for me.

I guess I need to update this thread more....just have been busy.
Weds I thought I would drive my rig to the vanpool since I figured work would let out way late and by the time we made it back to town the roads would be horrible.
Got out early and grabbed some groceries and while driving through the parking lot a couple shudders and I lost all forward thrust. Check to make sure a transfer case didn't pop in neutral or something. Then hopped out and looked under the truck (expecting a driveline on the ground or something) only to see the driveshaft still spinning (drag in gearbox from cold gear lube) and the truck not moving.
Tossed in 4wd and limped it home.
Torn it down yesterday morning with the day off and found all my ring gear bolts somehow fell out of the ring gear. Carrier is pretty well fubar'd. Found a donor third in Seattle to pick up this evening and swap my gears into. New bearings and some ring gear locking tabs are on the way.

And clean all oil out of the holes with brake clean so the locktite is effective.

Did you already head over to Seattle? What third are you running? I have a 4cyl third...

Already picked up a new third. I have elockers front and rear. Got a killer deal on it. My gears were good still but questioned the bearings so new ones are on the way.

this is getting old.....and I need to get some pics uploaded.
Ended up chipping a front ring gear 2 weeks ago. Tore down the truck on Sunday and new gearset should be here tomorrow.
I think once this is sorted out the next big step is going to be a new bed for the truck

Somebody didn't lock tight the ring gear bolts.

yes. I think I might have not even torqued them proper as I was going to do that after loc-tite. I built this third on and off over a week period.....lesson learned.
The other I did in one sitting....other than rushing it and not reshimming when a bearing race settled on final assembly everything was ok.
