thanks for the tip will definatly do that i sent a message to a guy on pirate runnin a dual shackle setup and he said that he has wrap issues so ive decided to get away from that

ill probly end up having to make a set of traction bars anyways since my springs are down to a 3 leaf pack ive also tossed around the idea of inboarding the springs but i say it wont be worth the trouble since its real nice on side hills at the moment

but if i end up makin enough money this summer ill try to get a link setup in there but thats all hopes and dreams

Your building a chevy..... 52" rears up front with a couple extra's cut down if you start with a small half ton pack. Or if it's 3/4-1 ton pull the overload and toss them in. Put 63's in the rear with a single shackle and your budget suspension is done and it will work waaaaay better than you could ever hope for on that rig.

52's are up front got the 56's in the back as i got them in on my parts truck 63's are just so damn long and id like to keep the rear overhang as small as possible. ill be flipping the 56's around so that teh shorter sections in the back

With flipped 56's you will definitely need a traction bar... They will work just fine but wrap pretty badly with the long end forward. I REALLY like my inboarded 52's in the back of my rig.... With 42's I have a nearly 90* departure angle and they don't get unstable offcamber. Not to mention the lack of axle wrap. :D

43" center to center so that puts the frame about 40" inside to inside. I welded ranger rear front mounts inside the frame and the spring centers are 30 1/2". It's rather narrow but that adds leverage on the stiff packs to make them flex without them being so soft I have wrap issues. :D

hmm forget at the moment but i think my chevy frame is a narrower and runs about 28" inside to inside in the back and only like 32" inside spring perches so im still leanin on keepin springs outside. ill have to toss my tires back on to see what my overhang looks like might keep it like it is if its not too bad and realisticaly id like to get all my tube on, driveline mods, full gas tank and tools aboard to see how much squat ive got goin on

I don't remember chevy frames being THAT narrow.... But if you don't want to go full on inboarded why not put them under the frame? Gain a bit of height to avoid blocks etc.

yea it doesnt sound right to me either. i do however refuse to run blocks, i have seen what the do so springs because of the un adresses wrap and i think of them as a band aid so if i have to do inboarding to get way from blocks then i will do so with no hesitation..........now that i think about it with my front stayin the same inboarded rears wouldnt cause to much body roll because id leave the fronts where they are

oh and the back of a chevy frame is 35" outside to outside just remembered because my bed is 49" and i welded 6" strips to my sheet thats 1" wider than the frame on both sides

My fronts are 29" centers and the rear is 30 1/2" centers and I don't have any body roll issues at all. Although my body is likely a lot lower than what yours will be with the kaiser cab on there. Your front is 31 1/2" centers on the springs but for the life of me I can't remember what the rear spacing is...

yea the body sits up there a good bit more than the chevy cab was but the good thing is all the weight (motor ect is stayin the same as where it was before and this cabs a good couple hundred pounds lighter than the chevy was

its takin along time and too much money to get it to this point for what it is
and to acount for i cant leave anything alone long enough i went ahead and whacked 15" out of my wheelbase tonight. i put the factory front hangers 15" forward of their previous location and then i have a peice of 2x4 1/4 wall goin across the back and will use a couple peices of 1/4 wall to fab up shackle hangers and will need more plate to make a set shackles

Image
mounted up on of my original tanks to the back and mounted my tool box at the very back to get some extra weight back there
my list of things to do by the time I get my lisence back is:
1. lengthen and shorten my driveshafts
2. bore out my draglink and order a heim for it
3. get some shackle hangers (want the creaper joint ones)
4.mount my passenger seat
5. mount/get a radiator (looking for a 57 chevy v8 rad) or an alum one if i get some $$
6.build engine crossmember
7.mount brake master
8. final check and fill up and rock!![/QUOTE]
