I was just a kid, don't remember much of this run other than the digging! Most of been late 80's? I'll have to get some info from my dad.

Jimmy I'll have to get the albums and start scanning.

Very cool pics. How many of those rigs still belong to club members?

A few. The Jeepster, white 3B, a couple of the other 5s belong to associate members and I think I might see David's grandpa's EB in there. So much has changed....so little has changed. Some of those folks are now old or ill or moved away....sigh....damn david, I'll drop off the albums when I get back in town. You rule.

The old pics are great. My dad took a lot of pics in the form of slides from back in the day. (1963-1980) It would be nice to have a peak putter party with some of the members, old and new to view a slide show. Who else has old pics to view?

That's a good idea. My dad has some slides too, mostly from the racing days. I can scan in the slides with my scanner, just takes awhile. Someday I want to get all of his slides scanned. Also have a few short videos of lates 90's, early 00's.

That bent up Jeep wagon brings back memories :!: Susan was driving one of those when we got married :) Sure had some fun in that critter. Guess that means I'm close to 40 years of this insanity

Uh, speaking of Starky and that kind of hooliganism  , the boss at the City of Pilot Rock is a friend of mine, and they're developing an ORV park :!: And there are plans for 4x4 stuff, like drags and barrel races. Just an FYI...

Damn I am getting old. This was my rig (that I owned 18 years) a few months after I bought it in 1986 at Pismo Dunes.

Here is the same rig at Moses Lake Dunes in 1990

Looks just like the Blazer we had ('73) when the boys were little. It had a black top, tho. Had 11x15 Armstrong tires, and it didn't work in the sand for s##t, even with a big Holley, Edelbrock intake, cam, and headers!! Traded it for a '72 ScoutII, and was happy to get rid of it

my dad swears that armstrong true tracks are the best tire ever made  probably were in their day

Tell your Dad I think the best mud tire ever was the Firestone Super Alltrack. TruTracs were good in sand, but fairly borderline in mud. Had to let air out to get 'em to bite, and then ground clearance went away :!: We ran the TT"s on 15x10 wheels, too.

Great pics! That pic of the bent up wagon sure looks familiar, I swear I've seen that before.

Hi, New to the site. I recognize some of the guys in these 'old' photos. I was not in the Peak Putters, but I worked with and ran with some of the guys. In these pics I see Darren Lantzer's yellow Willys. He is in Spokane now and I'm sure he still has the Jeep. I note that several of the pics have Larry Lantzer and Mike Mudd supervising the digging. I do not see Larry's high hood in any of the pics, nor Mike Mudd's yellow CJ. I know Mike sold his Jeep (one of my employees owned it at one point.) Also Shane Morrison is in a few of the pics. He was not in the PP, but he went on a few runs with Darren; he worked as Assistant Service Manager at Sandvig Olds when I detailed and worked parts there. I was not on that run, but I made a couple of spring snow runs with the Peak Putters back in the day and a few Christmas Tree runs in my old yellow Jeepster. You guys still make Christmas tree runs?

Hi there iaccocca, and welcome to the forum. It's nice to hear from someone who is familiar with some of the old timers.

Yea we usually still have the trees runs, usually up in the Dayton area.

My name? Iaccocca = Lee ********

I used to drive a '69 Yellow Jeepster, until I rolled it down Jump Off Joe. Then I was driving a yellow Jeepster with red doors, a white hood, etc. I have Wrangler Unlimited now, kind of a new school Jeepster 8-) I'll probably try to make the tree run with you this year.

Very nice. . .look forward to seeing you.

Dad is Ron Moss. . .I'll ask him if he remembers you. We had a green CJ5 and (still have) a blue CJ7 Renegade.

Here is pic from a xmas tree run in that same era. That's Darren Lantzer's Willys in the background and my ole Jeepster in the foreground. Only shots from the drivers side, I was sitting on a skinny spare on the other side; always seemed to shred an inner tube when I aired down. 8-)
