Copper City Work Party

Postby SPR » Sun Sep 21, 2014 7:23 pm

A while attending PUAM 2014, Dolly and I offered to participate in a work party to help complete the ongoing bridge building project on the Copper City trail. The trail was closed many years ago due to land slides, washouts, and Forest Service bureaucracy. It's a long frustrating story, but after many years of battling with the local Forest Service, an agreement was made to re-open the Copper City trail, but the PNW4WDA had to do most of the work. The trail is still closed to vehicles and I don't know when it will officially open up.

The 2.2 mile trail starts at an old bunkhouse and ascends 1100ft the side of the mountain to a nice meadow and the limited remains of the mines. It's an easy trail for short wheelbase rigs. Below are some pictures of our day one the Copper City trail.

Nice work! :thu2:
Okay, we're a little crazy to have a Duramax for a daily driver. But if we go off our meds, we might wind up in a Prius.
