Taking the opportunity to avoid the crowds and run some trails when the masses were tied up with graduation festivities, Boyscout and I headed for the hills. The plan was to drop the tow rigs in Naches, and then utilize the recently re-opened Milk Creek Road (FS-1708) to head up in elevation from Hwy 410, and make a loop encompassing trails on both the Naches and Manastash side of the ridge. A quick rundown of the route:

FS-1708
FS-509
4W-617
4W-676
4W-306
4W-308
4W-309
4W-330
4W-307
4W-694
4W-687
4W-688
FS-1708

WHEW!! If you're not familiar with the area, I highly recommend picking up a map and doing some research on this combination of trails before you take it on... It will wear you out, but is well worth it. At any rate, enough blabbing, onto the pictures:

We ended the day back at Whistlin Jacks for ice cream, and made it back home just in time to watch the sun setting in the rearview mirror. Overall it was a pretty long day, but I'd do it again tomorrow if I had the chance 8)
Yep, I've wheeled one of those, too...

What do the kewl kids say? Awesome sauce!
Okay, we're a little crazy to have a Duramax for a daily driver. But if we go off our meds, we might wind up in a Prius.

Very nice.
Looks like trails I know I've been on, none of which I can remember how I got there!
I really need to pay more attention when following people. :D

Might help some with names:

FS-1708 Milk Creek
FS-509 ?
4W-617 Lilly Pond, is this the short shoot up from the bottom?
4W-676 Kaner Flats
4W-306 Manastash Ridge
4W-308 Shoestring
4W-309 String, this the trail's split section?
4W-330 Tipover
4W-307 Tripod Flat
4W-694 Summit (Funny Rocks)
4W-687 ? Woodpecker????
4W-688 ?
FS-1708 Milk Creek

What is 4W-687 & 688? Woodpecker? FS doesn't list them on the website.
I need to get a map and there just doesn't seem to be maps of Naches or Rimrock online.

Looks like a nice day out.
