Fortune Creek / Gallagher Lake 10Jul2021

Having never explored the area North of Cle Elum, it was high time to do something about it... Circumstances allowed for a weekend in the general area, and a plan was put together to have a local celebrity show us around. In attendance were the full dollop of Wilcox in our white JLU-R, Lenzke party of 2 in their new grey JLU-R, The Madi in Blue, and the aforementioned celebrity and his lovely bride, Jim and Kim, in their Land Cruiser. We rolled out from Roslyn around 0930:

We quickly made our way up to the trail head, and stopped to air down:

The trail gains significant elevation in rapid order, and the views along the way were stunning. The terrain up in this area is markedly different than what we are used to seeing in the Blues, Ahtanum, Rim Rock, Naches or Manastash areas... It's much much steeper, greener, with very defined ridges and valleys. It almost has a San Juan Mountain Range (South-Western Colorado) feel to it:

We made our way to the destination for the day, Gallagher Lake, and spent an hour or so soaking in the view and letting the minions and dog do their thing:

The trip back down was uneventful, and we stopped to air back up at the old train depot:

From there we took the quick trip back to Roslyn for a tour of the renowned butcher shop, Carek's. If you ever have the opportunity, I highly recommend taking the time to stop in for a snack:

Overall it had been a great day on the trails. This area has a ton more to offer, and we fully intend to return to continue exploring it
Yep, I've wheeled one of those, too...
