Re-intro post military

Postby JambaJeep » Sun Sep 22, 2013 1:17 pm

Just wanted to introduce myself again. I just moved back to kennewick after a 5 year tour in the navy. I joined the navy in August of 2008 and was stationed at Naval Air Station Whidbey Island. I was an AD-2 (E-5 jet mechanic). Looking at RN programs right now

I used to be into Jeeps and had a xj but I have moved onto Toyota's. I have an 83 Toyota pickup longbed stats are:

87 solid axle, lockright locker, 4.10s, dirty 30's, trussed and armored with arp studs in everything. Ifs hubs rotors and v-6 calipers.

Homebrew highsteer
Hydro assist using Jeep power steering pump and all JIC #6 hoses and fittings.
Late style ifs steering box with thick flat pitman arm
Homebrew front drop spring hanger. 2" drop and axle moved forward ~3 inches
Rear springs up front..Still messing with hybrid spring packs
Ford shock mounts and 14" travel KYB excel G2's on all 4 corners
H1 double beadlocks w/37" MT's

Dual cases in progress

Chevy 63's out back
Ifs width rear axle with solid axle disc brakes

I need a cage,an add a leaf for the rear, and weld my rear 3rd member.

Looking forward to meeting new friends and people

Sorry for the fat thumbs. Its an 85 axle. Its got full width trusses. Trust me...the round u-bolts don't like the square lower full length truss. The pinion flange matches the late Toyota pattern. Its got ifs hubs and rotors too.

Thanks for calling me out though. You just earned 1" cool point" and a gold star.

They made solid axles in 87 they just didn't sell them in the states,I thought maybe you had a rare import axle. My IFS rotors are vented not solid. I like your truck and the work you did on the spring hangers looks good.

Thanks CaveDave. I do al my own Fab work. Im a "built not bought" kinda guy. And my rotors are vented, that pic may have been before I installed my new axle. I did my drop hanger and rear springs up front before I rolled my new axle under the truck.

And just a little snaple lid fact, they still produce and sell solid axle Toyota's but only in Australia LOL

Ill have to crawl under the truck today and snap a few more pics of Fab work. Look for my build thread in the build ups section ill start it today.
