Hello everyone My name is Tom and I just moved to Richland from Wisconsin with my wife, 1 year old, and Wolfhound/Dane mix. Im originally from CT but Ive slowly moved west over the past 10 years.
I drive a 98 Land rover Discovery, which didnt like the trip very well. Id like to come wheeling with you guys but first can anyone recommend a good mechanic? I can do most things myself but Im not sure Im up for tackling a head gasket and a few other major things...

Welcome aboard! i've heard discos can be a expensive to maintain. i've taken my jeep to casaday beeline for alignment and tire balancing. haven't had the need to go in for anything else. here is their web linky thing.

Thanks for them welcome scumby. Rovers can be expensive, but if your smart then you can find good deals on parts. The challenge is finding a mechanic that's good, doesn't charge a lot, and doesn't get scared when I mention it's a Land Rover.

Welcome. You might check Allied down behind Overturf, or Simonson is Pasco. They both work on Euro stuff.

:hi Welcome to Washington. You picked the right side of the state to live.
I hope you like it here.
Nice Rover! I hope you get it running soon.
If not, you can just hang out with the Scout guys!

Forgot about Redline! Yeah, if that's still Mike, he's good. My kid worked for him when he had the shop at the "Y".

x2 on redline......If your looking for someone on the side I can get that lined up. I'm on the shelf right now with a back injury but have another guy that wouldn't be afraid of land rover stuff

Thank you guys, I'd like to have someone who could use some cash on the side fix it, the least expensive the better. I'd do it myself but I'm a little intimidated about tearing my truck that far apart. It's a really easy truck to work on, it's an aluminum block Buick engine that Land Rover bought out so its nothing special, no computers....
I talked to the guys at allied, they were really nice and helpful. I just need to sell my camper (if anyone's looking for a nice pop-up let me know) or save a little more and I csn get the work done.

I'm still thinking it needs a head gasket job and I think the freeze plug is shot and that's where the coolant leak is coming from.
