99's looking for snow run (Oct 14th, 2007)

Postby Beep Beep » Tue Oct 16, 2007 2:44 pm

99 wanted to wheel the Ahtanum State Forest to find the snow. She knew there had to be some up there because we can see the snow from Yakima. Here is our trip.

We started off by running Nasty Creek Rd up to the Strobach Mountain Trail.

We ran into two Jeeps coming down. One was dragging out "rednk1980's" broken Toyota. Oh what a feeling!

On Strobach Mountain we took a look off at Rimrock.

The next hill climb was a little slick.

It was nice not to have the deep power dust that we had just a month ago in this area.

Climbing up Foundation Ridge was a little slick in places. Here is Icesis working his rig to get up this part trying not to slide into a tree.

We dropped down to the North Fork and run across Darland Mountain. There wasn't much snow on the road.

Next we ran down to the Sno-park, up A2400, A2420 and onto Sedge Ridge Crest Trail. We ran that to the cross above Cultus Hole. There was a great view of the stars.

We ran South Fork Road out since it was getting late.

This was a great wheelin' weekend for us. Sand dunes on Saturday and mountain snow on Sunday.
