As most of you know my wife and I winter in Yuma, AZ. There are hundreds and hundreds of miles of desert back roads and off-road trails. This year I decided to find a group of wheelers that I might be able to wheel with and finally found the Yuma 4X4 group. It’s not a club, there are no dues or by-laws. It’s just a group of guys with Jeeps that want to do the same thing as me, have fun and explore the area. Saturday February 1st was the first run I was able to make and once I got to the staging area I decided that I would make a run report of this event on our site, so here goes.
We were to meet at the Chevron station at Fortuna Ave. and the North Frontage Road at 8:30. At 9 we moved to the start of the run, one of the entrances to the Barry Goldwater Range. I had talked my neighbor into riding shotty with me. He has an RZR he uses here in the desert and 02 Cherokee (not a wheeler), so he’s not new to wheeling and off-roading. When we pulled into the station there were Jeeps everywhere, probably 15-16 of them. I parked and immediately people started coming up to meet “the new green rubi guyâ€

Looks like a lot of fun. The open desert is a lot of fun especially when you get to play on cool things like old tanks.

Thanks guys. It was fun. A lot of the two track sand roads were a blast to drift. We're talking about 5-6" of sand. Blasting into a turn was great fun but bogging down and having to power out was a different story. That and we were not supposed to go over 25mph....NOT!!
Hopefully the next run will be more exciting.
