Father's Day Run / Camping trip
June 13th-15th , 2008
On Saturday June 14th, 2008 we started out with six rigs. We took FS1701 up to the top. We turn on 4W694 (Manastash Summit Trail).
We stoped to look down at Manastash Lake.
Right past the view point we ran into some snow.
Coming into Funny Rocks.
We met up with WayCrazy's group of four rigs.
The ten rigs moved toward Moon Rocks.
On the side of the rocks we had some fun getting up on top.
Headed on down 4W695 toward FS1701.
At the creek crossing we ran into snow. I worked my way toward the clearing and found a tree blocking the trail. Lucky I had the saw in my rig.
Here are the others working their way through.
After everyone was through, we head on down to our camp on FS1701 for lunch.
After lunch we headed up FS530 to Bald Mountain to hit 4W644.
The next stretch of trail was covered with snow making it off camber.
Test Dummy and I went for it. After everyone watched us siding and crab walking, they thought it would be best to turn around.
Test Dummy hit the same tree as I did.
Most of the hard off camber was over. Now we had to deal with water running under the snow in the lower tire track.
I tried to straddle the water area as much as I could. Sometimes that didn't work so well. I was stuck a few times along this part.
We finely made it through and waited for the others at Moon Rocks.
Scuba just got a call his Daughter got hurt at camp. Him and his brother-in-law turned around and headed back to camp.
The rest of the rigs heading on.
We turned onto 4W694 and then turned down 4W686.
We follow 4W686 into the trees and found a lot down. Test Dummy ran the saw though this section.
This was the second to the last area we had to clear down trees.
Moving into the logged area. Nothing to cut out of the way here.
The end of the cool part of 4W686.
Most of the group headed home. We had three rigs going back to camp. We ran Milk Creek down to SR410 to Whistlen’ Jacks. After getting supplies we run SR410 and then up FS1702. The sun was going down by the time we got near the top. The sunset was very cool.
On Sunday most that were camping went home. My wife came up with the kids in my Jeep. BlindPilot also came up with his family. This made four rigs for the run. My wife and I swapped XJs and we all head out on FS530.
Here we are at Bald Mountain Lookout.
Bubz
We ran FS530 down and turned onto 4W675.
We ran FS1702 to SR410 and headed toward Little Naches. We stopped at the Gold Creek Station to check out my wheel shimmy.
We removed some weights and we where on our way. That seemed to help a lot.
Next we ran NF19 and then up FS1902 toward Ravens Roost. We ran into the Peak Putter Club that was coming down. They said they just had come down from the top and there was a lot of snow. We went on up to play in the snow some. Of coarse my XJ couldn't get too far in the snow because of the tires. Being late in the afternoon we decided to turn around. We stopped on the way down to let the kids run.
After we got down to NF19 we took a drive up to FS1906 to check out camping areas. Once there we turned around for home.
We stopped at Whistlen’ Jacks so my wife could get the kids some snacks. Check out the gas prices.
We headed back up to camp to load the Tweety Jeep on the trailer and then headed home.
This was a great weekend thanks to all that came.
