ReplyHi Everyone! Well, the NMA and WOHVA have hired an attorney to go after the transfer of NOVA funds and return them to the ORV Grant Process. SUPPORT THESE PEOPLE as they are saving our bacon! You can find who to send the checks to on the discussion board of NOVA TAG PARTY FB page.
The Tag party is still on for June 14th. It will be held at a State Park in the Puget Sound area. I know there is a lot of talk about making this a protest followed by an event...BUT, that was too much for me...at least to coordinate! There is no reason you can't go ride that afternoon, but PLEASE PLEASE, even if you have to give up a Sunday of racing or riding, PLEASE attend this protest. IT IS SO IMPORTANT to show the people of WA State that we are really upset and we are not going to sit by and let our own government steal our funding. NO WAY!
Why haven't I announced the exact location...I am getting advice both ways...The majority think it is good to hold our cards close in and not let our opponents organize anything until the last minute. Others think we need to release a location now to let each of you prepare. I am interested in knowing what everyone thinks, so please take some time to respond. Bottom line, however, is the event will be over on the West side of the Cascades, in the Puget Sound area, and easy to locate and access. This is a FRIENDLY PROTEST! Make signs, bring your bike (leave in the truck or on the trailer, your Jeep, your ATV....), snacks, BBQ, etc. Remember, the State Parks are not our enemy...they didn't have any say in this and we do not want to break any of their rules. Most people who don't ride or wheel have some interesting preconceived notions about who we are and what we promote. Let’s demonstrate the truth! Bring the family (after all, these are your state parks!) and enjoy the day at your FUNDED PARK! Plan to attend from 8am to noon.
In closing, remember that the Washington Trail Association had a PAID employee at the Capital EVERY DAY while this budget was getting pushed through. I am an avid hiker and I will NEVER join the WTA because they are an activist group who want to see motorized (and, in many cases MOUNTAIN BIKING) recreation SHUT OUT of the National Forest and other public lands! I do not support elitist organizations who want to impose their lifestyle on everyone else. They have no idea about the number of hours and the work our volunteers donate each year to keeping trails open, regulated, and maintained. They totally endorsed (and most likely lobbied for…) the stealing of the NOVA funds! Take time to read the other posts.
In their latest newsletter, they are encouraging their members to record OHV problems on the trails…document and photograph trail damage and report it. Well, as a hiker, I can’t begin to tell you how many beer cans I have picked up off the trail, toilet paper I have buried, and pieces of trash I have packed out of the woods (all from those dirty, filthy hikers!). There are millions of USER MADE trails in the Wilderness as well. They have their embarrassments just like every other user group. Perhaps it is time to start recording their damage, taking pictures, and documenting the land misuse caused by their 1%ers.
Everyone on this page enjoys the outdoors. We might have different modes of travel, but we have one thing in common: We love the public lands. The USFS’s original motto was “The land of MANY uses!â€
Okay, we're a little crazy to have a Duramax for a daily driver. But if we go off our meds, we might wind up in a Prius.
If you want to hear God laugh, tell Him your plans.
