Juniper Dunes toilets are shot up, then removed

Postby iaccocca » Fri Oct 23, 2009 12:54 pm

By the Herald staff:
Two temporary toilets in the Juniper Dunes Off-Road Vehicle Area northeast of Pasco have been vandalized.

After shelving initial plans to install permanent toilets because of unsuitable terrain and access problems, the Bureau of Land Management placed four temporary toilets at the Juniper Dunes parking area Oct. 1.

But on Oct. 16 the contractor who provided the temporary toilets notified BLM someone had extensively damaged them with gunfire.

Because of that, BLM officials asked the contractor to remove the toilets, and have no plans to replace them.

The BLM is investigating the incident and asked that anyone with information on the incident call BLM Law Enforcement at 509-536-1224

Okay, we're a little crazy to have a Duramax for a daily driver. But if we go off our meds, we might wind up in a Prius.

I am absolutely amazed, even at my age, how stupid some can be! We in the local ORV community are trying to get something good going out at Juniper, and we have idiots doing this! This is not going to help the cause, and I'm angry! A stunt like this will set us back in more ways that I can think of. I hope you selfish, thoughtless culls get caught and the BLM throws the key away after you're locked up!! Too bad I can't say what I really think here...

That's like the jerrks and the shooting on the Hostpital land above Hover when they closed that down due to the mess, etc.

But really, while we see stuff like this happening, it just isn't happening in the wheelers playgrounds, it's happening all over the place. Too many thoughtless slobs in society now days, no respect for other people's property or possessions. Unfortunately, since wheelers are easy to attack in the media already, stuff like this receives proportionally higher media attention that stuff that doesn't have special interests pushing their own agenda and using stuff like that to further their own agenda.

It would probably be a safe bet that these are STUPID KIDS that have built up trucks that don't give a damn about wheeling...at least the way we do...and could care less about what this means to the wheeling community. The same could probably be said about vandalism on the mountain trails.

And Dave....saying what you really want to say is only going to satisfy you and the rest of us are going to cringe. Go out in your back yard and let it out before you get to the next meeting....in the kids room at Rosie's. We still all remember that episode.
