The Okanogan-Wenatchee National Forest is conducting a 12-month study of recreation visitors to the forest. It is a voluntary survey with the results helping to better understand what the visitors value in terms of opportunities and facilities; and how much and what types of recreation are currently occuring. www.fs.fed.us/r6/wenatchee
It is also information that would help making decisions about where to invest future recreation budgets on the forest, according to Mary Bean, Program Manager (509)-664-9319. She went on to say "it is important to us to gather information about the quantity and quality of recreation visits. Forest recreation is an important part of the local tourism industry; economic and use information will be valuable for private enterprise and local communities as well as for the local recreation managers."
