SB6557

Postby Grumpy » Mon Jan 18, 2010 6:25 pm

SB 6557 was read for the first time on January 18; referred to Committee on Environment, Water & Energy; requested by Department of Ecology and Puget Sound Partnership.

The bill relates to limiting the use of certain substances in brake friction material; copper seems to be the big concern; it states that thousands of pounds of copper and other substances released from brake friction material enters Washington streams, rivers, and the marine environment.

Beginning January 1, 2015 after-market brake friction material exceeding five percent copper and its compounds by weight may not be sold in Washington state.
