Naches Grant Applications

Postby Grumpy » Wed Apr 09, 2014 7:00 am

Dear TWIG Member:

The Naches District is getting ready to apply for several grants issued through the Recreation Conservation Office (RCO) under both the NOVA and RTP programs. We have relied on these grants for many years – they fund our trails crew, rec maintenance crews, and OHV Rangers. We use your volunteer labor as matches for these grants.

The NOVA program is funded through a portion of your state gas taxes. The RTP program is funded through federal dollars.

Not only have we relied heavily on your volunteer labor to be successful in obtaining these grants, we rely on your letters of support.

If you have a moment, would you please consider sending us a letter in support of these grants?

This is what we need from you (by April 28 so we have time to compile them for our deadline):
1) Consider the grants we’re applying for (below). If you believe the grants we are seeking are important to you and deserve consideration from the Advisory Boards. If they are, please explain why they are important.

2) It is okay to mention several of the grants in the same letter/email - just send one to us that mentions all the grants you are supporting.

3) Address your letter to the Advisory Board. That way we can send it to either the RTP or the NOVA board.

4) Email them to us by April 28th. (We take hard copies too if that’s more convenient).

These are the grants we are applying for this year, and the programs we plan to apply under:

We will apply for these grants under both the NOVA and the RTP programs:
· Backcountry/Wilderness Trails Maintenance and Operations (M&O)

· Motorized Trail Maintenance and Operations (M&O)

· Developed and Dispersed Recreation Site Maintenance (M&O)

· Deep Creek Trailheads (we might only apply under one – we’re not sure what’s the best strategy yet)

We will apply for this grant under the NOVA program:
· OHV Education and Enforcement Rangers

If you have questions, please contact me or Kevin and we will answer them.

THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR SUPPORTING THE NACHES DISTRICT!!

Sue Ranger and Kevin Hill and the entire Recreation Department
