Blue Mountains Forest Plan Revision

Comments are closed, and as near as I can tell, ain’t nobody happy. Forest Access For All and my pal John George have retained an attorney, and are preparing for the worst. Additionally, BlueRibbon Coalition is also preparing, just in case it does turn ugly. The reference to WOHVA on my letter seems to have disappeared during the posting process.

Juniper Dunes

Looks like construction on the new county road any day now. We still need to nail down amenities, but have plenty of time for that. I have been leaning on BLM to get after grants, but occasionally sense a bit of foot dragging.

Shoestring Work Party

September 8 & 9, 2018. Camping was at the Manastash Camp Grounds. Supplies were delivered to the work site so we didn't have to transport them. Dale and Diane Neuman (High Country Cruisers) and Skip Frans reported the Forest Service people were mildly upset because the work that was to have been done before we arrived had not been started. However, the materials had been brought in.
Skip said Daniel from the Midnite Mudders rode with him and they built the 2 bridges. They had a mini excavator dig it out and they built the bridges . Skip said some motorcycle riders who were out for a ride stopped and helped. They were not aware that something like this happened. Mikki Douglass (Cle Elum Ranger District) was very impressed with the work that was done. The guys were back in camp by 2:30 – all the work was done. Dinner Saturday night was provided as well as breakfast Sunday morning.

Saddle Mountain Work Party (BLM)

Was September 22, 2018 They planned to rebuild the bulletin board on the west end, repair fences, post signs, pick up litter and maybe remove graffiti. Meeting was at the R Road BLM bulletin board on the west end of Saddle Mountains. Refreshments were provided. The time was from 9 AM to 1 PM. Two volunteers showed up, John Thompson and David Linton from the Midnite Mudders in Tri Cities. I have no clue on that.
