New Years Day 2023
New Years Day 2023
I called the New Years Day run at the last monthly meeting and we talked about the possibility of running Hover Park or Juniper. A third option would be FS 1302 - Windy Point Rd. It has been a few years since I've ran this one but from what I remember it was a lot of fun. If anyone has any input I would gladly take it. Just trying to decide where to go. Iulia and I will be riding my KRX 1000.

Re: New Years Day 2023
My vote would be 1302 or Nasty Creek...
The downside to either is tow rig parking, as Nasty Creek tends to pack up pretty early anymore with SxS trailers and the parking lot at Windy Point is very narrow and hard to negotiate with a trailer on, especially once a few rigs are already parked around the perimeter.
Having done 1302 several times in the wintertime, be prepared for legit ICE as you climb and come back down, as that roadbed gets very little sunlight and if there has been any melting, the freeze/thaw/freeze cycle makes for a pretty exciting recipe. But the views from up top on a clear day are totally worth it.

Yep, I've wheeled one of those, too...

I’m driving up tomorrow to check out the parking situation… I’m counting almost 20 rigs right now. This is going to be epic!
