Peak Putters - Pick up a Mountain (Sept 2012)

Another Region 4 PNW4WDA Pick up a Mountain is in the books. As usual, it was a great time with lots of great people. This year was the most people that I have ever seen at any PUAM. An added bonus was a strong PeakPutter showing. 8)
Barb and I arrived early Thursday afternoon to secure a spot. Curtis arrived that evening and we spread our stuff around. Between the PeakPutters and the Desert Rats, we filled up the whole west end of the park.
One of the great things about PUAM is that you can choose any trail or area to clean up. And that's exactly what we did. We (TJDave family, Iaccocca family, Desert Rats Earl Nettlin, and my buddy Leonard with his wife, and my other buddy Kevin and wife) chose the easier, virtually dust free, Naches Pass Trail. Tim Followed ED somewhere around Clover Springs area? Curtis, Steve and sons went on another journey somewhere else. (I'll let them tell their own stories.)

Anyway, enough blah blah, it was a lot of fun. I'm still transferring pics, but here is some campsite teasers to get the run report going. I'll post the rest very soon.

Did it escape, or was it abducted to secure some large logging cable?

If the latter, I'll make sure to get it back to the custodial parent. :D

Escaped. If you look at the pic you will see one hook is already free. My understanding is that both hooks need to be used. The one that was used for logging cable was promptly returned after doing its duty. The good news is the cooler survived sans ratchet strap. Otherwise I wouldn't have survived if my wife was left sans Coca-Cola.

Where is the requisite picture of the pile of trash that was collected? Looks like there was plenty of folks to make a pretty big impact on the cleanup effort... Sure would like to actually be home one of these years to do my part

They always have a big roll-off dumpster at the entrance for everyone to throw their bags of garbage into. Unfortunately, I did not get a picture of it.
It looked pretty full, and this year the aluminum was separated from the rest of the junk for a youth group to recycle. Aluminum went in white bags and there was a good pile of those on the ground too.

Maybe someone took a picture of it, or some other pics. Anybody?

Edit: I found one on Ceg's site

About the fires: We did not have any major smoke issues at camp. There were a lot of fire crews running up and down the forest road across from Jim Sprick Park all weekend. Helicopters were also flying back and forth overhead with their water buckets in tow.

From the Naches Pass Trail, we could not see any visible smoke or fire. But, there were trails where you could see the action. I borrowed pics from the off-camber website.

And a pic of the group shot Saturday morning. I did not make it out of the camper in time for this.

It was good seeing you this weekend, Dave!

We didn't think to take an pics of our group cleaning up trash, but we ended up with a couple of bags. It was nice to see the trails pretty clean already.

Our group headed to Moon Rocks, ran Rocky Saddle, and the out through Funny Rocks. Here's a few pics that we got.

I'm not a Ranger guy either but that one turned out pretty cool. It was a father/son project by a couple of friends of mine. It's running a HP D44/FF 9" with 5.13's, Detroits dual cases if I remember right. Theres a build thread on it here http://www.off-camber.com/forum/topic/3 ... il-ranger/

This was thier shake down run and other than a leaky steering box it worked out pretty dang good.

Here's a few more of it.
